🚨FIRST TEAM LINE-UP🚨

For the final time this season Tommy leads his side out against Brid.

A strange season for the firsts with a mixed bag of results but looking to end the season strongly on the back of last weeks final over win against Ebberston.

🚨FIRST TEAM RESULT🚨

It may have taken some time to get this post out but boy is it worth it!

Fletch led his side on their final away game on the season taking the short trip down the road to promotion chasing Ebberston.

Losing the toss and thrown out to field, Ebberston got off to a decent start at 39-1 as Hirst set on his way to a 48. Top order all contributing but decent bowling from Brompton restricted the scores. No one able to get past 20, wickets fell for Boyle and Tommy with Ebberston 74-3. Jarv and Harry came into the bowling attack offering problems for the batsmen with the spin. Both picking up 3 apiece Ebberston looked all at sea until Beal came in with a superb 62* to steer Ebberston to the end of the innings on 194.

Once again a decent start with Tom and Mark opening losing the first wicket for 33. It was very much an all or nothing mindset for Brompton with 2 ducks and Turnsy smashing 71 to keep us in the game. The partnership between Tom n Andy helped us to 120-3 before another quick couple of wickets pegged us back. Once the experienced Patey’s wicket fell, Jay marched out to bat. From here we witnessed perhaps one of the best moments in recent history. Jay, probably frustrated with how his season has gone despite having many respectable innings, had a point to prove. A brilliantly played 23 got us to the final over… 193/8.

First ball… dot from Ash.
Second ball… Ash is dismissed by Beal
Third ball… dot from Boyle
Fourth ball… a quick single gets Jay on strike.

Now in this situation the scores are tied at 194 a piece, what would you do?

Option A. Dot and pray the last ball is a stinker to steal an easy run
Option B. Knock it to safety and sprint like hell for a quick single.
Or Option C. Swing like hell and smash it for 6 and win it in style.

Jay did what Jay does best and absolutely slammed the penultimate ball over the boundary for a 6 to win the game for Brompton in some style!

A beautiful 10 points as the lads look to end the season strong taking points off our local rivals.

🚨WEEKEND RESULTS🚨

It would take longer for me to make the results graphics than it took our first’s to play the game on Saturday so i’m not going to bother.
All out for 72 and Sherburn knocked it off in 7 overs without losing a wicket. Fair play to Sherburn that’s an absolute whooping and best of luck on the title chase lads💪

Seconds unfortunately got rained off after batting through the 40 overs against a title chasing Snainton who had already secured promotion to div 2, we’ll miss a local derby against Snainton but wish them all the best next season and hopefully we can join them the following year! Anyway we had a bit of fun on our last game of the season, hope you enjoy our video!

🚨LINE UP ANNOUNCEMENTS🚨

Looking to avoid the rain Tom leads the firsts down the road to top of the league Sherburn looking to do the double over our neighbours.

Whilst Pip names his final 11 of the season at hope to an already promoted Snainton!

Best of luck lads and hopefully the rain stays away🫣

🚨WEEKEND RESULTS🚨

Firsts travelled to Filey on the back of two very disappointing results looking to bounce back.
Filey flying high and on the hunt for promotion were sent out to bat.
A decent opening partnership of 51 got Filey off to a perfect start, but Piet and Dan soon got their eye on taking 3 apiece and got us right back in it at 110-6. Harry was back amongst the wickets with a couple including that of Fileys top scorer Dickens (46) and young Billy added to his tally for the season with a couple himself. Filey all out for 166 knowing a chase was on the cards.
Tom decided to let Mark face a ball this week instead of running him out immediately. This proved useful with Brucey departing for 28 while Tom got his weekly mega send off on 22. Rest of the top order struggled with Piet getting 19. At 113-7 it looked like tough going. Arthur swung hard for 11 while Big Jim did Big Jim things for 18, but it wasn’t to be and we fell agonisingly short by 14.

2s hosted Ravenscar knowing a tough battle was on the cards with Ravenscar a very determined side. Pip won the toss and batted. Jay departed for 15, cruelly dismissed with a brilliantly instinctive catch which is probably dropped 99 times out of 100. Dan went for 22 once again holding an end up superbly. Benno bottled 49 this week going for 14. Jackson had his eye in yet again with 32 to his name and the weeks top scorer just out doing Calvin on 30. Sids dismissed with ball of the week some how bowling him for 15. End of innings 165 all out.
The opening bowlers were on fire yet again dismissing the top order at 24-3. Calv finding incredible form at the end of the season while Al has remained consistent throughout the season.
Good partnership between Rewcroft (33) and Graham (30) gave Ravenscar hope at 70-4 with Rewcroft Ravenscars only hope. The mullet bowled well once he got loosened up taking another couple himself with Rewcroft still battling away until Pip brought himself on and cleaned him up alongside the number 11 in one over to see Ravenscar all out for 135.
2s ending the season strongly and thinking what could’ve been had we not conceded two, could potentially be in the promotion places but not to worry, heading into the final game of the season against Snainton next week 2s look to end the season on a high.

Huge congratulations to Jackson Boyle for hitting his first ever 50 in serious style, going on to reach 61!
Jackson took just 26 balls to reach this landmark smashing 5 6s and 6 4s along the way, an innings which proved crucial in the victory over Brid!

Well done Jackson, first of many💪

🚨SECOND TEAM RESULTS🚨

Looking to bounce back from some disappointing results, Pip led his 2s to Ebberston hoping to pick up the points.
Winning the toss and batting, 2s got off to a tough start after Jay got an absolute pearler of a ball and the first wicket fell. Pip came in at 3 and put on a terrific partnership with Dan as the runs rocketed up to 127-2 with Pip going for 62. Dan soon followed on 52. Sid’s stopped the sign of a collapse with 21 whilst Benno got his eye in for a quick fire 49*, a number he’s becoming accustomed too. We ended the innings on 247, a terrific score for the conditions.
Ebberston found themselves in a similar situation at 6-1, but soon clawed back through a 42 from Midgley. At 52-2 Ebberston would feel fairly content with the situation but an absolute destruction of the batsmen was incoming. Calv picked up another 4 wickets as he’s ending the season in absolutely brilliant form while Tony picked up a couple. Jackson the new part time spinner collected one while Pip ended the innings with 2 and Ebberston falling short on 104.

Looking to carry this form over to Brid Pip won the toss for the second week running and batted. A young but lively Brid side took the wicket of Jay who departed for 13. Pip and Dan formed another decent partnership with Pip going for 29. Dan played a classy 34 holding up an end and stopping the rot while Benno set off with his eyes set on a 50. Dan departed and Rory Stockill, on loan from Snainton, joined Benno as he slogged one hoping to see his 50 in style only to be caught and stranding himself on 49 for the second week in a row! Jackson came in and went one better with a brilliant 61 off 26 including 6 4s and 5 huge 6s to reach his first ever 50. Rest of the order struggled to get going but the damage was done and we ended on 244.
Bowling against a young but tricky side, Benno got the breakthrough of Brids top man. The top order struggled with Benno picking up 3 wickets in quick succession while Calv continued his fine form for his first ever 5fer. However the plaudits for today must go to Brids tail enders, a young pairing who batted superbly looking to see out the innings and put on a brilliant partnership of 49 before Pip cleaned them up to seal another victory!
Well done to Brid they showed a brilliant account of themselves and they’ll certainly be a side to watch out for over the coming seasons!

🚨FIRST TEAM RESULTS🚨

Never got so much grief as i have this weekend for not posting about losing, sorry lads some of us are busy…

Anyway this is gonna be fun, first of all Captain Tom hosted Great Habton, winning the toss and batting. Tom played an absolutely superb 82*, despite running Mark out before he even faced a ball. Turnsy amongst the runs again with a 32, while the rest of the top order struggled. Jim Bruce with 22 off 21 with Rinke seeing the innings out with 42* with Brompton ending on 210/7. A decent target for Habton but knowing 250 would’ve been safer. Can’t even complain about this really just top class batting and well worked partnerships saw them through. Aconley with a ton and no matter what the bowlers chucked at him he just kept slamming it straight back. Few drops didn’t help but better team won, onto next week (yesterday) to bounce back… erm yeah about that.

Losing the toss and thrown out to field. Wickets shared around with Tommy, Jim, Mark and Billy picking up 2 apiece, Arthur and Harry with one each. No real partnerships throughout the innings but the lower order scraping the runs to see Thornton end on 184, which seemed very achievable.
Out comes the leagues top scorer, first ball gone🥲
Billy battled away for 13 while Jarv stayed firm for 28* with no one able to stay with him. Harry scraped 14 and that’s as good as it got. All out for 86.

Next week away to a Filey side looking strong and on the hunt for promotion, great.
