More T Vicar held their nerve on the final morning to finish on 33 points and take the 2026 707 Sailing National Championship!

A huge congratulations to Ben Williamson and the More T Vicar team, your 2026 national champions!

Flat Out finished the championship in style with victory in the final race, securing second overall, while Seaword completed a podium separated by just three points.

Close racing, difficult conditions, plenty of position changes and a title that went right down to the final morning. That is exactly what 707 racing is all about.

Congratulations to every crew who competed and thank you for bringing a proper national championship to Scarborough!

A championship like this takes more than boats, crews and a racecourse, it takes people and businesses willing to get behind it.

Final day of the 707 Sailing National Championship!

There is one last morning of racing in Scarborough before the 2026 national champions are crowned!

Here’s what’s happening on Sunday 6 September:

7.30am–8.30am: Breakfast cobs at SYC
9.30am: First warning signal
12pm–3pm: SYC bar open
12.30pm: Lift out
1.30pm–2.30pm: Beef brisket and Yorkshire puddings served at SYC
2.30pm: Final prizegiving

One final push on the water. Then it’s time to crown the champions! ⛵

Scarborough Bay clearly felt guilty about only giving the fleet one race yesterday, so today it handed over four!

Four races brought four fiercely contested podiums and three different winners:

After nine races, with eight counting, More T Vicar leads the championship on 24 points.

The top five going into the final day:

Just four points separate the top three, so this championship is far from decided.

Day three of the 707 National Championship.

The results are starting to take shape, but there is still plenty of racing ahead before the title is decided!

Here’s what’s happening on Saturday 5 September:

8am–9.30am: Breakfast cobs at SYC
10.30am: First warning signal
3pm–11pm: SYC bar open
6pm: Day three prizegiving
6.30pm: Chicken curry served at SYC
7.30pm: Race Night social

DAY TWO RESULTS

And the weather had other ideas today!

Difficult conditions meant just one race before racing was brought to an early finish. Disappointing for the sailing programme, but considerably better news for the bar!

Po made the race count, taking the win ahead of More T Vicar and Tsunami II.

After five races, More T Vicar remains at the top of the leaderboard:

The bar may have benefited from today’s early finish, but tomorrow the alarm clocks won’t, Saturday’s first warning signal has been brought forward to 09:25.

After yesterday’s opening races, the fleet returns to the bay for another day of close competition.

Here’s what’s happening on Friday 4 September:

8am–10am: Breakfast cobs at SYC

5.30pm–11pm: SYC bar open
6pm: Day two prizegiving
6.30pm: Wood-fired pizza by Embers

Racing first. Pizza afterwards. That sounds like a proper Friday at SYC!
