These two little loves are going to be at our Yorkshire Coast School of Ballet open afternoon this Sunday at the YMCA from 2pm -4pm. Come along and find out about our classes, we have dancers from age 2-82. Join in with a ballet class, or have a look at our large selection of costumes both new and pre loved. Wishing all those starting a new chapter the happiest of times, whether it's nursery, pre school, school, big school,college, uni,or apprenticeships. Hugs to the parents waving you off. New beginnings bring mixed emotions. Excited for the future, already missing the past. Cherish the moment.

This Sunday we have our open afternoon and as well as actually dancing there are some amazing bargains to be had with our costume sale- this is one of our Ā£1 rails, and there are a few boxes with costumes for Ā£1 too.
We also have brand new childrenās costumes for just Ā£5 and adults costumes from Ā£3- Ā£10, incl brand new leotards. itās not ājustā ballet, there are solo costumes, contemporary costumes, jazz costumesā¦ hats, tap shoes, ballet shoes.
We are open from 2pm -4pm

It is promotion season! And some of our younger dancers have been promoted to the next level āØ, leaving us space in our Monday and Tuesday classes for new ballet dancers š©°. 9 and 10 year olds beginners ballet is starting soon.
Theyāre not too old.

They want to dance, and itās ballet thatās caught their attention.
I am looking forward to teaching them in a class that is especially for them.
Is 9 or 10 too old to start ballet? Absolutely not.
9 or 10 is actually the ideal age to beginā¦old enough to focus and progress quickly. At Yorkshire Coast School of Ballet we run a dedicated beginners class just for this age group, so every one starts from the same point together.

Forty years ago today, I started my first professional contract as a ballet dancer.
The years that followed took me across Germany, dancing and then choreographing ā including at the E.T.A. Hoffmann Theater, Landestheater Detmold, Stadttheater Giessen Theater der Jugend Hannover. And finally to teaching.
Earlier this year I went back to Oberhausen to see the theatre again where at 19, I started.
Forty years on, it hasnāt changed much.
Forty years since that first contract.
The love of ballet started long before, and itās never once let go of me. Ballet has seen me through all of the darkest days.
Thirty-plus years of teaching now, passing on what was passed to me. And hopefully giving others that love of ballet and the escapism? wholeness? Iām not really sure what it is, the finding yourself and losing yourself at the same time.
To everyone whoās supported me, danced with me, been taught by me, or watched from the wings or the audience ( special shout out to Sara Baldeschwieler who made that very eventful first trip with me and my suitcases)- thank you š«¶š»š©°š„āØ
A few weeks ago some of our lovely Thursday 4pm dancers and Encore ( our Adult Dance Company) were part of Perform for Poppy, raising money for children's hospital and The Sick Children's Trust.
I was overseas at the time, so Miss Jenny was at the helm and kindly took these pictures of our younger dancers.
