Wishing all those starting a new chapter the happiest of times, whether it's nursery, pre school, school, big school, college, uni,or apprenticeships. Hugs to the parents waving you off. New beginnings bring mixed emotions. Excited for the future, already missing the past. Cherish the moment.

Forty years ago today, I started my first professional contract as a ballet dancer.
The years that followed took me across Germany, dancing and then choreographing ā including at the E.T.A. Hoffmann Theater, Landestheater Detmold, Stadttheater Giessen Theater der Jugend Hannover. And finally to teaching.
Earlier this year I went back to Oberhausen to see the theatre again where at 19, I started.
Forty years on, it hasnāt changed much.
Forty years since that first contract.
The love of ballet started long before, and itās never once let go of me. Ballet has seen me through all of the darkest days.
Thirty-plus years of teaching now, passing on what was passed to me. And hopefully giving others that love of ballet and the escapism? wholeness? Iām not really sure what it is, the finding yourself and losing yourself at the same time.
To everyone whoās supported me, danced with me, been taught by me, or watched from the wings or the audience ( special shout out to Sara Baldeschwieler who made that very eventful first trip with me and my suitcases)- thank you š«¶š»š©°š„āØ
