Reminder: Major roadworks at Brigg's Monument Roundabout begin tomorrow
Road users are being reminded that major highway improvement works at Monument Roundabout in Brigg are due to get underway tomorrow, Monday, September 14.
The works are expected to continue until early November and will involve improvements to the roundabout and surrounding roads.
Drivers are being advised to plan ahead, allow extra time for their journeys and expect delays while the works are carried out.
Glanford Road is set to close from Monday, September 14, although access for residents will be maintained via a signed diversion route.
Access to properties and premises will be maintained throughout the works.
Four-way traffic signals will also be introduced at Monument Roundabout from Monday onwards.
The revised traffic signal arrangements have been sent to the traffic management company to ensure they comply with relevant guidance and safety procedures and have been approved.
Works to be carried out in phases
The improvement scheme will be delivered in a number of phases to keep the roundabout operational for as long as possible and minimise disruption to residents and local businesses.
Phase 1 – Bigby Road to Bigby Street
Under-road narrowing works will take place.
Phase 2 – Bigby Road and Wrawby Road
Ducting and island installation will be carried out, with a road closure expected to last less than 10 days.
Phase 3 – Bigby Street to Wrawby Street
Lane narrowing will be introduced while works take place.
Phase 4 – Monument Roundabout
Resurfacing, high-friction surfacing (HFS) and new road markings will be completed during a night-time closure.
A further closure of Monument Roundabout will therefore be required for the final carriageway resurfacing works in early November.
The exact date and duration of that closure will be confirmed following further consultation in October.
Roundabout to remain operational
The phasing of the work has been designed to ensure that Monument Roundabout remains fully operational for the maximum amount of time possible, helping to reduce disruption to the daily activities of local residents and businesses.
However, drivers are being urged to allow additional time and consider their routes before travelling through the area.
The improvement works are currently expected to be completed in early November.
