Spring is finally becoming a reality and the vine in our pottery studio is really shooting away.
Now is the best time in the Lakes. We still have a few places on our May and June courses and one in July

Here is the story of our raku day

01/04/2018

Friday before last was so busy it's taken till now to post the photos!
This was the last and most exciting day when all the pots we made early in the week went into the raku kiln with wonderfully outlandish results. IMAGINATION IS THE ONLY LIMIT!

It's drying day and not only for the clothes. These are the pots made on our course this week and they're all going into the kiln tomorrow so they'll spend the night on the Rayburn getting really dry. I'll send some pic's when they are finished

Snow is on the fells, the wind is bitter but Spring is round the corner and our first course of the year books in today. The pottery is warm(ish), the clay all kneaded and the final essentials in the oven. Barbara's Brown oat biscuits! We get through a lot of them on a course.

Program 6: Turkey. 0 - 180C full; soak 20 min; 180 - 160C full; Soak 20 min; End.
Seeing is believing; A pottery kiln really is ideal for the Christmas turkey.

If our grins look a little fixed it is because the weather has progressed from fog to steady rain and we are outside in the dark in front of our shop window. So What? We're BRITISH!!!!
So here's wishing Merry Christmas to all potters wherever you are!

Chaos (organised?) in the pottery

16/12/2017

The pottery has been in complete chaos with glazing firing and packing going on at the same time to finish the course pots for Christmas. At last the final package is sorted and booked to leave on Monday. If you look into the pottery this time next week what you see will probably be a large turkey, wineand loads of fruit and veg all keeping cool. Our daughter and her family all have good appetites

Thought I'd use some old shots to practise making a photo album. Hope they remind some of you of my interminable lecturing!
