Seascale Golf Club Report 1st June 2026
The continuing excellent weather encouraged a good turnout, one hundred and thirty, for Wednesday's Multi Tee Stableford. David Stamp returned 40pts to win Division 1, then came Mark Jacques on 38pts. Five 37s followed with countback awarding Graham Goulding (Back9/22) third place, and Steven Meagan fourth with (B9/20). John Taylor, with the day's best 42pts, won Division 2. Brian Maguire came second with 39pts, B6/14 then Glen Wills, also on 39 but B6/12 came third. Phil Haig slotted into fourth on 37pts. Moving to Division 3, Frank Dorgan's 41pts earned him first place. Two behind on 39pts, came Dave Jenkinson. Ian Johnston and Andrew lace then returned 38pts, Dave winning with the better Back9. There were ten Twos, Graham Goulding getting his at the par4/15th. James Stothers won the Opt-In Gross competition wth his round of 74.
Fifty pairs played in Sunday's Gent's and Ladies 4BBB Stableford in cooler but largely fine conditions. The pairing of Paul Maher and Irving Bragg were the outright winners with their score of 47nett. They were followed by no less than seven 45s, and after a card play-off Jack Fee/Barry Fee claimed second place by virtue of the Better Front6. John Roper/Neil Gribbin, Back3/8 came third and Mark Harris/Mel Walker were fourth with B3/7. William Douglas/ Louie Henderson took fifth place beating John Martindale/Mitchell Steele into sixth place by virtue of the better B/9. There were eleven twos with Mathew Metcalf getting a pair, but the highlight however of the match went to Keith Pickup who had a Hole-in-One at the thirteenth!

Seascale Golf Club Report 25th May 2026
One hundred and fifteen men competed in Wednesday's Multi Tee Medal with a lot of fine scores being returned. Michael Lynch had a superb round of 63nett, the Day's Best by three shots to win Division 1. Colin Mitchell took second place with 67, then Watto Watson claimed third on 68. William Douglas with 69(B9/31) came fourth. Bill Jenkinson on 69 won Division 2 with his B9/33 beating John Owens into second place, also on 69, but B9/35. Greg Fitzwilliam's 70 earned him third place followed by David Pierce on 71 taking fourth by virtue of the better back nine. Moving to Division 3, Luke Williams won with his round of 69nett. second came Laurence Connor's 71, third was Tom Porter's 72, then in fourth place by virtue of the best B9 came Robin Adair on 74. There were six valid Twos, with Luke Williams getting his at the Par4, 15th. Scott Mahaffy won the Opt-In Gross competition with his round of 74, beating John Rushforth on the Back9.
Eighty nine men competed on Sunday for the Ernest Anderson Trophy, a Medal (Aggregate 5 of 16). Summer finally arrived with a fine, clear, windless, sunny day. The Trophy winner was Tony Miller who returned 66nett. In second place came Kyle Stamp, who can expect to see his Handicap tumble, after his round of 67nett off 36 handicap. Calum Henderson claimed third with 68. Four 70s followed, with a card playoff awarding Dave Stubbings fourth (B9/33), Stephen Sharpe fifth (B9/34) Brian Maguire sixth (B1/3) and seventh Peter Thompson (B1/4). Scott Mahaffy, with the best of seven 71s, took the eighth and final prize. Jack Stubbings with his round of 71 took the best Gross prize and also won him the Opt-In Gross prize. There were eight Twos returned.

Abby Roper County Champion 👍🏌️♀️
The Ladies County Championship was held at Kirkby Lonsdale today and our very own Abby came out victorious. This is the second time she has done the double of winning the strokeplay and matchplay championships.
