đŸ„° Binge eating is a symptom of something more

Nothing like a medical scare to bring you some good old realisations!

I’m fine, but for almost a whole day I didn’t know if I was facing something very serious. The 9pm call to say “your bloods show you need to go to A&E NOW” wasn’t quite what I had planned on Wednesday evening!

It doesn’t have to be a potential major life event that leads to to a moment of binge eating.

It just needs to be something that brings out emotions you’re trying to deal with.

Emotions that you’re probably trying desperately to avoid feeling and food takes them away.

The binge works.

But only temporarily and that’s part of what makes it the opposite to being kind to yourself.

So how about we start there? Find a way of being kind towards yourself.

đŸ„° It’s much harder to treat yourself badly if you’re working on being kind.

What’s one thing you can do or one thing you can say to yourself that’s all about kindness?

đŸ«Ł This really could be your last chance to join

Not a sales tactic, I promise, I’m just not sure that I’ll run Knowledge again this year as I potentially have something outside of it coming up that will mean I can’t commit to another group.

Knowledge works.

If you turn up to the group calls, get curious about yourself and trust that there is another way than using food to cope with the way you feel, then you can stop binge eating and find a more peaceful relationship with food.

You can then use those skills to make losing weight possible.

Last chance to join. It’s a small group of ladies who are going to feel differently in 6 weeks time.

If you want to join then message me KNOWLEDGE and I’ll send you details, or go to my bio and fill out the form.

🙌 Curiosity over judgement

Changing your relationship with food and stopping bingeing is possible.

But it takes learning about yourself, in a way that you can notice what’s happening and then practice skills that changes it.

It’s what I do. I’m really bloody passionate about it because too many women are miserable with them selves and with food.

I help you feel and behave differently.

Time is running out to join the next group programme of Knowledge, we start on Tuesday 2nd June.
Message me KNOWLEDGE and I’ll send you details.

💔 Is it just me? Or is it absolutely heartbreaking to think about all the women who are being sold lies?

It really, truly gets me pi**ed off and upset when I read these posts on social media that sell a diet that’s going to get weight off as quick as possible.

It’s a miserable place to be, controlling every morsel you eat and feeling desperate to make life better on the promise of being smaller.

It’s why Knowledge exists, to be an alternative to all that crap.
A place where you can find freedom with food.
A place where you can work out your values as a human and then apply them to food.

If my client’s words made sense to you then it’s probably time you joined, we start 2nd June.
Comment or DM me KNOWLEDGE and I’ll send you details.

🧁 Binge eating has triggers

For every binge eating moment there has been a trigger.

Going in to the supermarket super hungry is a prime example of one of these.

If you add in emotions from the day that you haven’t yet dealt with it’s the perfect storm for the evening to involve you totally overeating, unaware of how much you’ve eaten.

The fallout from that is likely to be the familiar feelings of guilt and shame and that sick feeling in your tummy.

To reduce the chance of that happening going in to the supermarket aware of your hunger, noticing it as a signal and deciding how you want to feel later in the day are in the moment skills.

🙌 If this sounds familiar then I have a whole range of things that help you learn to do it differently. Right now doors are open to my next group intake but they close in 6 days. Message me for more info.

đŸȘŁ Do you have a f**k it bucket when you’re dieting?

“Never mind, I’ll eat what I want today and get back on it tomorrow”
“It’s the weekend, so it doesn’t matter”
“ It’s a special occasion, so calories don’t count”

Or maybe your bucket doesn’t even need a reason to show up?

Things that can help avoid this (and bonus keep you much less likely to binge)
.

1. Eat like you normally would before you go (and by normally I mean regular meals with a mix of protein, carbs and veg / salad).

2. Could you take a side dish that’s going to help you eat more food but still be in control of how much you eat? Volume eating is really important, we all know you’re not going to eat 2 slices of pizza and then stop and also, why should you?! Pizza is amazing and just 2 slices on their own is not going to fill you up.

3. Remember that even if you do eat more than normal these one or two events are not going to make a huge difference in isolation, it’s what you do around them that does. So no starving yourself to be ‘allowed’ to eat at them and no seeing it as an excuse to go wild with food for the next 3 days.

4. Go and enjoy yourself, food is a big part of socialising and often something that brings joy.

❀ Avoid the all or nothing mentality basically, that f**k it bucket does not need to rule your life.

👀 Do you use the bucket or do you have strategies that help avoid it? Let me know in the comments.

đŸ€Ż Get control of your emotions, get control of food

Seeing the number go up on the scales when you’re trying to make it go down can absolutely mess with your head.

“But I’ve been so good”
“This must mean it’s not working, I’ve failed”

It’s the emotional reaction that guides your next steps, not the number on the scales.

In The Nourish Method Knowledge we’re not aiming for weight loss for those 6 weeks.

I know weight loss is what you want, but focusing on that hasn’t worked, so we start with the way you feel.

And learn how to manage it all differently.

No more binge eating after a hard day at work.

And loads more trust in yourself with food.

The next intake starts on the 2nd June but spaces are limited to keep the group small, so you get the support from me that you need.

đŸ‘‹đŸ» My Why

It’s mostly about a passion to stop women feeling alone and lost with their relationship with food.

Feeling exhausted by it all, like I was.

Thinking you’re a failure, like I did.

And a moment when I realised I could change it, for me to begin with and then for you.

But this how my just about personal experience.

It’s also the 10 years I spent as a mental health nurse, all the times I supported a patient to find a way of making a different choice in the last 6 years of my career.

The Nourish Method Knowledge is both learning about yourself and developing skills to manage differently.

So you stop binge eating / emotional eating with no willpower needed, just a curiosity about yourself.

đŸšȘ Doors are open now to join the next intake on the 2nd June, but the group number is kept low, so you get the level of support needed. Don’t leave it until the last minute and regret missing out.
