The amazing success of Michael MORPURG'S novel War Horse, and subsequent play and film, seen by millions of people world wide, brought the story of War horse Joey and Albert his owner, to the attention of the public, highlighting the role played by horses during WWI.
Selby Town Hall railings will be displaying Purple Poppies, provided by the British Legion in recognition of the role played by many animals in past and present conflicts.
Cllr Steve Shaw Wright said Selby Town Council has an excellent working relationship with the local British Legion, and I was supportive of the request to display the purple poppies at the town hall. The poppies will be displayed from 23 August.

The community centre has some excellent exercise classes available Monday - Thursday:
Monday 6pm - 7.30pm Karate; 6.30pm - 8.00pm Yoga (in the attic)
Tuesday 7pm - 8pm Pilates; 8.15 - 9.15pm Zumba
Wednesday 7.15pm - 8.15pm Insanity
Thursday 6.30 - 8pm Karate
Come along to any of the classes, everyone is welcome - spread the word and support these local groups.
