📰RESULT 23rd February
Pocklington Town AFC 0 - 3 Thorpe Vets
The Final League game of the season - A windy and wild trip to the foot of the Wolds proved to be a good contest as nothing could separate the sides in the first half despite some good passages of play from Luke Matthews on the left with the Vets trying to play their style of football, with Matty Howden and Tim Heaton putting in the hard yards.
The second half started much of the same, but it was Kuba Hawryluk teeing up Matty Howden from a perfect cross for him to score a diving header settling the visitors nerves.
Lewis Griffiths, seeing the game home, slamming in two rockets, both from free kicks, to match last week's brace.
The Vets 3-0 up but with Rob Harris providing another centre back master class keeping the home side at bay to keep us with a clean sheet.
MOTM: 🏆 Rob Harris with yet another brilliant performance in defence 💪🏼

📰 RESULT
Bramham Lions 3 - 3 Thorpe Vets
Top of the table clash today, playing on what can only be described as grass-infused playdough set up the Vets for a proper muddy Sunday League slog-fest.
Vets started strong, with the Delap-esque long throws from Griffiths causing problems early on.
Griffith's himself getting on the scoresheet early, with Littlewood pouncing on a loose high ball to head home to carry on his scoring streak. Vets up 2-0 with some positive play.
The first half played out with Bramham getting one back just before the half-time whistle.
The Vets knew going into the game that Bramham always tick up a gear in the second half and that's how it panned out. A half of strong defence, but Bramham managing to get their equaliser.
Indicative of the spirit of the team this year, Vets went 3-2 up with a ball from Matty Howden to tee up Lewis Griffiths to put us ahead, but Bramham hit back soon after.
The back four of Harris, Sowden, Hawryluk and Goodall were phenomenal today despite the consistent pressure, but the man of the moment was Matty Dunne who pulled off some absolute world-class saves which even had the opposition in awe.
The Vets sit second in the League, with Olympia having a game in hand.
🏆MOTM: Matty "How the f*ck did he save that?" Dunne

📰 RESULT SUNDAY 2ND FEBRUARY
Thorpe United Vets 5 - 2 Strensall Tigers
At last Thorpe Vets managed to find some sunshine for a game of football on a Sunday morning. It was a turbulent start to the morning with Tim Heaton not showing up, rumour has it he is still on the train!
Strensall started the game strong, applying lots of pressure to Thorpe all over the field, frustratingly Thorpe managed to cope until a Strensall winger caught a lucky bobble and everyone watched his cross fly in to the far corner, past a helpless Dunne in goal. Thorpe continued to battle hard, and with their very own Rory Delap (Lewis) creating mayhem with his long throw they managed to get a penalty, which Crowther tucked away in the bottom corner. Game on!
Second half started brightly, Calum hounding the Strensall backline like a man possessed and in doing so he jumped on a mistake from the centre half and pummelled a low drive in to the bottom corner!
The long throw continued to create chance after chance, eventually Thorpe capitalised through Howden, a huge header from a packed box. 3-1.
Strensall continued to catch Thorpe on the counter but they found a solid defence and behind them, a keeper in top form, Dunne with numerous top class saves! Strensalls pressure did create them an unmissable chance and they managed to pull in back to 3-2.
The defence of Rob, Kacper and Chris didn’t panic though and stayed very solid for the rest of the game. The middle 3 of Sowden, Littlewood and Crowther who happen to have a combined age of 206 continued to do a lot of running without seeing much of the ball but luckily Ian Baker came off the bench to hit a thunderous volley to make it 4-2 and take the pressure off. Shortly after Littlewood made it 5 and the points were in the bag.
Nathan and Lewis battled hard all day against a mouthy Strensall defence, their effort did not go unnoticed along with England and Howden backing them up.
A big shout out to Luke Matthews as well who pulled his hamstring 4 times in the same game but carried on for 60mins!
Somehow, Thorpe Vets find themselves fighting the top of the league, the tactical genius of Howson is really paying off!
🏆MOTM: Calum England

📰 RESULT
Thorpe United Vets 3 - 1 Selby Olympia WMC
A festive feast of football from both teams see Thorpe put in a shift Santa would be proud of.
Olympia started strong to be denied by the woodwork on two occasions, but it was Matty Howden who broke the deadlock with a deft finish, lobbing the keeper after one of his trademark runs. The Vets awarded a disputed penalty before the second half, but Matty uncharacteristically clattering the bar meaning going into the break on a knife-edge at 1-0 up.
Second half, the Vets came out the gates strong with a top bins finish from Andy Whitaker after he found space in the box.
Olympia hitting back with an absolute rocket buoyed the visitors' fightback, but it was Luke Matthews swapping the gloves for his shooting boots, jumping on a loose ball in the area delivering the gaffer an early Christmas present and firing the Vets into third in the league.
Richard Sowden taking MOTM with his dominance and strength at the back, ensuring the Olympia threat was nullified. 💪🏼
The boys now enjoy a well-earned break until the new year on a strict calorie deficit and fitness plan... 🤥
Merry Christmas and UTT!

📰RESULT
Punch Bowl FC 8 - 6 Thorpe United Vets
Much like a wheely bin this weekend, The Vets' gameplan and composure was all over the place, conceding 4 in the first half to battle back in the second.
The game tightly balanced at 7-6 saw Punch Bowl take their chances and put the game to bed before the final whistle.
A wet and windy forgettable game sees us look ahead to next week's local derby against Selby Olympia WMC
Tim Heaton and Rob Harris both impressing, but again - Matty Howden with another hat trick and undeniable work rate seals the MOTM.
