Happy Wednesday everyone,
Thank you to everyone who has volunteered already.
It looks like we will have sunshine for this Saturday’s parkrun. So now there’s no excuse for not volunteering.
I just need a few more to join me in the funnel.
A funnel manager - you get to use a clip board,
Another barcode scanner,
Finish token support to help Malcolm,
Token sorting - you can still run
And a couple more marshals out on the course wouldn’t look out of place.
If you think you can help, please message below… before England kick off would be great.
Thanks. Tracy.

Selby parkrun #367
No word yet on whether we were the 1 millionth parkrun, but we've a good a chance as any! There are still plenty of stickers left with the kit if anyone missed out and wants to take one next week.
This week 263 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 59 were first timers and 35 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 30 different clubs took part.
The event was made possible by 21 volunteers:
Lee SILBURN • Charlie BENNETT • Garry TURNER • Emma FROST • Sue JAMES • Graeme SMITH • Lisa AIRLIE • Ana DUGDALE • Steve SIMPSON • Paul HAMPSON • Susan POOLE • Anthony POOLE • Joanne SMITH • Susan SEAMAN • Charlotte BAXTER • Richard PARKIN • Emma TOMAZ DE VASCONCELOS • Megan SIMPSON • Charlotte BARBER • Holly WRIGHT • Lewis AGAR-SIMMS
My personal thanks to everyone, especially those stepping up and doing roles for the first time. You all smashed it!
In terms of milestones, Jacqueline Roe was sashed up for her 100th parkrun, and Martin Nee hit the double century. Well done both!
All the results are now up on the Selby parkrun website results page.
That's it from me. Your RD next week is Tracy. Let's make sure she has a full a volunteer roster as I had!

The drizzle is easing off and the wind's not as bad as expected on the airfield. See you soon!

Evening all,
One more from me ahead of tomorrow's event. Please consider giving yourself extra time to arrive, park and get to the start line ahead of the run brief. For the past few weeks we've noticed people still parking and arriving around the time we're usually ready to the brief, usually around 8:55. The problem may be worse this weekend as, with Goole cancelled and no car park marshals, the event is likely to be busy and car parking won't be particularly orderly.
Additionally, I don't currently have a volunteer for funnel manager. That doesn't stop the event going ahead, but any issues with the results might be unfixable without a funnel manager in place. Please consider this if results go awry.
See you tomorrow, and, as ever, don't forget your barcode!

Morning everyone,
I've a few more volunteer roles that still need filling for tomorrow to ensure the event goes ahead smoothly and safely:
📍Car park marshals x 2 - to wrangle the general chaos of our car park (you can run or walk after doing this role.)
📍Funnel manager - to help make sure everyone gets through the funnel correctly and that I get the results right.
If you can step forward to do either, it would be greatly appreciated 😁
See you tomorrow at a dry but windy Burn airfield - don't forget your barcode!

Evening all,
Just a bit of a nudge as I don't currently have the volunteers I need for Saturday's event to go ahead. Please step forward if you are able to be:
A timekeepeer
A car park marshal (2 roles available)
A tail walker (2 roles)
A funnel manager
A token collector/sorter
All roles are easy to do, and full training will be provided.
Cheers
Graeme

Your next Selby parkrun is Saturday the 13th of June (we narrowly avoided a Friday the 13th situation, phew!) It's my turn at the RD helm once again - they come around reassuringly regularly!
I'm getting news from parkrun HQ that the one millionth parkrun will take place this weekend. It could be ours - though I'm not quite sure how it works since they all start at the same time 🤔 Either way, a momentous occasion to be part of!
I'm asking for all the usuals - milestones, shoutouts, and, all importantly, volunteers. As much as we want to celebrate the runners, joggers, and walkers who come to the airfield week in, week out, the event would be nothing without volunteers.
So, if you want to get involved in making sure everything goes ahead safely, then I've got the following roles on offer.
📍First timers welcome (you can run or walk after)
📍Car park marshal x2 (you can also run or walk after doing this)
📍On course marshal(s) and parkwalkers - the more the merrier!
📍Funnel Manager
📍Timekeepers x 2
📍Barcode Scanner x 1
📍Token collecting/sorting
Please do let me know if you have anything to celebrate next Saturday too - a milestone, a birthday. Are you a tourist? Are you going to be doing your first ever parkun? Let me know and I'll give you a shoutout from the mound 📣
See you Saturday and don't forget your barcode

A special thank you to Jacqeline Roe who was out early to do the course check this morning even though she isn’t feeling great so wasn’t well enough to take part in what would have been her 100th run today, she saves that for next week!
Thank you to barcode scanner Lewis who also took some photos inbetween scanning.
Thank you to juniors Poppy & Lilly giving up their Saturday morning to marshal with their mum Lauren.
And for Holly for sorting the tokens and then adding them back onto the reel. I really don't like that job so, thank you.
