Weβve had a buzzing time delivering a Home education session this afternoon. We looked at the observation hive, talked about the bees and their life cycle, tasted honey, looked at comb and frames, coloured in wooden bees, looked at the Yellow legged hornet, fed the chickens and took pictures with veils on at the virtual hive. The age group was 3 -8 and of course the parents so we made sure there was something for all the ages. Thank you for asking us to deliver a home education session for youπ. We also received a delivery of booklets from the National Bee Unit for beekeepers, budding beekeepers or anyone who has an interest. We are open this weekend 10-3 as usual. ππππππππ

We had a fabulous visit from Sherburn U3A Gardening group committee this morning. The weather was a bit hit and miss but plenty to see in the observation hive, eggs, larvae, the Queen, bees washboarding, lots of questions and everyone has a great time. As usual we were too busy chatting and forgot to get a group photoπ. We have another group attending tomorrow so hopefully we might remember to get some pics. πππππ We love what we do. π

Weβve been so busy this week, we havenβt had chance to post. Deliveries, inspections, extracting, a nice little swarm picked up from Hambleton Village, an incoming swarm into the bait bucket ( thereβs bees in my bucket dear Darren dear Darren, thereβs bees in my bucket dear Darren thereβs bees π π€£π€£) Proving to be very popular for swarms my bucket. πͺ£. We are open this weekend as usual 10-3. We had a fabulous bank holiday weekend. Thank you for everyone who joined us. We have Bees π ice cream, cake, hot and cold drinks. Thereβs dragonflies on the pond, cinnabar moths, grass hoppers and the picture below is apparently a Puss moth if it is Iβm glad I didnβt find it as a caterpillar π. π±. But Iβm not sure π€. If anyone knows its exact identity please let us know. π

Unfortunately we have just had notification that Holly and her Mini Beasts are not able to attend tomorrow. We donβt like to disappoint but sometimes things are out of our control. Hopefully we can arrange another date. The good news is the bees are extremely busy during this hot weather so you can still come along and see these magnificent creatures busy working and peek in the observation hive to see the workings of a colony. Weβre stocked up on ice cream to keep you cool π Open 10-3 tomorrow. ππππππ
