TRAINING for an Autumn HYROX, here’s what I’d be doing now.
Here are the sessions we’ll be coaching in week 1 of our program, subsequent weeks will follow a similar format 💪🏼🫁🫀
✅ RUNNING: longer, easy, capacity building and some interval sessions.
✅ STRENGTH: Building all round strength, but if you already have a good level of strength I’d be leaning in to the Strength MOVEMENTS more relevant to the event (Single Leg work, Sled work, Horizontal Pulls, OH Press)
✅ CONDITIONING: Building capacity with the Ergs and the HYROX movements.
✅ I’d lean into the STRENGTH (2 to 3 sessions per week) for the next 8 to 12 weeks with a little Conditioning (short finishers and 1 dedicated session)
❌ What I definitely wouldn’t be doing is lots of High Intensity Conditioning sessions, sessions that look like the event and sessions that generally leave you “smoked” The time to increase the frequency of these sessions is 8 to 10 weeks out from your race; now is about building.
Our 3 HYBRID Sessions each week are designed to do the above. If you want to prepare for a HYROX, they are for you; if you want to be a better RUNNING in the Autumn; they are for you, if you want to get STRONG and FIT, they are for you.
Hope this is useful, drop me a message if you want more details 👊🏼
