A beautiful day… I taught our second meditation class - “Unlearn To Meditate” we did some light movement out in the garden, with the sun and the birds, bare foot on the earth getting grounded into the body… Then we went inside to sit… 15 minutes of guided meditation, today focusing on gratitude.. So healing for the heart… Then a 10 minute sit in silence with no music of vocal direction, just peace for the body, to be with the breath, to be with nature, to be with whatever arises and no attachment… I feel such a profound feeling of peace afterwards, I’m actually finding it hard to put into words the feeling that the practice creates- could it be beyond the confine of words? But the peace is profound, my outlook feels so different following the practice…

I would dearly love to share this with more people who are keen to come along and have a sit with us.. I am happy to offer the first session for free as a taster… We meet biweekly on Thursdays at 12pm.. Our next sit together will be on Thursday 8th October.. Please message me if you would like to join, you are more than welcome… If any of the people attending are reading this I would be grateful if you could please share a few words on how the practice feels.. Thanks so much xx

September, a welcome arrival like a friend who comes over and puts the kettle on- less effort, greater ease.. The shoulders drop a little deeper as everything starts to descend, the sun, the apples whose blossom blessed our hands in spring now rest peacefully on the earth.

As the wheel turns and descends to a quieter, more reflective phase there has been a wonderful celebration of newness too. During our first class back earlier this month a doe arrived in the garden with her two fawns.. They munched on some flowers and skipped along when they clocked a window of amazed faces gaping at them! And a soon to be born babe was blessed in the shed with woven threads of sisterhood and loving words..

The cows were another blessing at the beginning of the month, and auspicious visitors for our evening practice.. A welcome reminder to stay gentle and practice Ahimsa not just on the mat, but in all areas of life.

And so we soften and let go.

Our yoga practice has enjoyed this welcome shift in the season too, the quieting. We have been working from the ground up, grounding the body and the breath into the earth with some deep twists. A welcome shift from upright, outward expansion to a more internal perspective.. This week we will be working from the ground up too, but integrating more balancing postures as we move through the Autumn Equinox and day and night become equal 🌞 🌙

I’m so excited to be returning to the beautiful garden at Pythouse for an evening of Sauna, Sound and Stillness.. We will start the evening by warming up in the sauna, letting the day melt away.. Then we will gather round the fire with hot drinks and blankets for some sound bowls and a quiet meditation, gently allowing the bowls to guide us into complete stillness.. It will be peaceful, earthy and very grounding..

When: Wednesday 14th October
Time: 6-8pm

I was reading recently, about a new collective of artists, activists and thinkers who are rallying against the commodification of human focus by tech companies, they call themselves “Friends of Attention” who are advocating for “attention sanctuaries” in the fight against “human fracking.”

I have to put my hand up and admit that I have noticed a significant decline in my attention span over the past 10 or so years. I put it down to motherhood, perimenopause, some undiagnosed adhd, grief, and just living with a mind that constantly likes to wander off and explore new ground.

And so, over the past 3-4 or so months I have been very intentionally trying to make my attention span less susceptible to exploitation, which, I have done through the practice of meditation.

I practice yoga every day, enjoy some good grounding and expansive asanas with the breath woven in, but when I sit in meditation, I will often find myself scanning through the deep freezer counting how many fish fingers are left or wondering if the boys have clean gym kits for school. And so I decided to consciously extend my period of sitting and to get comfortable with it. For the past 3-4 months I have been doing a 10-12 minute sit in silence, no music or guidance, just silencio. At first it feels a bit like getting into the sea (well British sea!). It is uncomfortable, and there is a loud voice telling you to get out of it… But you coax yourself in a bit more, breathing, breathing, softening, softening and after a few minutes of initial resistance, it feels more comfortable until next thing you know, you are completely “in it” and you lose all sense of time.

I have found this new ritual to be very beneficial to my mental and horomonal health. I feel less reactive, like there is more space in my mind and I feel much more present to the world. It feels good.

And so a new class has been born – Unlearn to Meditate – a practice where we do some movement and breathing and then sit in silence for 10 minutes and make peace with.. peace… giving ourselves permission to not be distracted or stimulated is a radical act of self-care in these fast-moving times.

The class runs biweekly and our next gathering will be on Thursday 24th September 12-1.00pm

You are most welcome to come and join us.

Hi friends,

I am really excited to be running this Crown Chakra evening at Aura Alchemy on Wednesday 16th September 👑

We will be making our own crowns using crystals and some plants and flowers from my garden and will have a sacred ceremony where we present our crowns to each other- acknowledging our higher selves and our connection to one another…. We will also enjoy a crown chakra meditation and I will bring my Tibetan bowls too… I can’t wait!

I believe there are 3 spaces left, if you would like to join us, it would be lovely to have you here 💜

Only a couple of spaces remain for our Crown Chakra Evening ✨👑✨

Back in March, Emily began our Chakra Evening journey with the Chakra Wash, and now she returns to bring the series full circle, closing our journey with the Crown Chakra. 💜

We spend so much of our lives doing.. thinking about what needs to happen next, ticking things off and moving from one thing to another.. This evening is an opportunity to explore the Crown Chakra and reconnect with our intuition, higher awareness and higher selves ✨🤍✨

Together we will:

• Create our own sacred crowns using crystals and flowers, including home-dried flowers gathered from Emily’s garden 🪻
• Take part in a coronation ceremony 👸🏻👸🏼👸🏾👸🏻👸🏽
• Be guided through a blissful Crown Chakra meditation
• Experience the beautiful sound of Tibetan singing bowls

Wednesday, 16 September, Aura Alchemy, 7-9pm.
Can’t wait to connect with you and see your beautiful crowns! 👑 💜

Book via our website or link in bio (Classes).
