There’s certainly a fair bit that happens behind the scenes. Sure sometimes things take longer than expected, it’s kinda part of the process.
Had some really good conversations with fellow builders recently, so much so that it’s probably worth an entire content pillar in and of itself.
What’s also great to see is just how far we’ve all collectively come. If you’re building vans, I urge you to take a step back and just consider these things.
A. How hard it’s been to get to where you are
And
B. Just how much things have improved (perhaps “changed” is a better term) largely because progress isn’t always linear.
I’m no content creator by any stretch but I know how hard it is just to post some s**t sometimes. So props to you guys if you’re managing to crack on with Instagram along side fifty six thousand other things.

Some days are more challenging than others. Over the last week or so me and Bennett have been working pretty much non stop on plans for the future, understanding what we’re good (and bad at) in equal measure. Working towards making the right decisions for the business, ourselves and of course the wider Romerworld team. Sometimes progress feels slow, s**t, sometimes it can even feel like you’re going backwards, but for the most part you have to keep it moving. So so many exciting things ahead.
It was also a pleasure to have Luke back in the shop today, he’s been out for a while now with a very bad neck and back issue, so he’s not in nearly as much but good to see him doing what he can in the interim.

The Romerworld RV1 is our first interior fit-out and base vehicle offering! Meticulously built in house at our workshop on the edge of the Peak District and was designed to make adventure easy!
We challenged ourselves to consider how the RV1 would be used and by who, this ensured we optimised the space and gave room to the things that matter the most. We didn’t want to create an ornament; it had to be beautifully designed and, of course, be a space you can’t wait to return to after a long day in the hills. But ultimately it needed to function perfectly as a tool for adventure.
The RV1’s open plan layout was designed to maximise storage without jeopardizing comfort. The cleverly designed kitchen takes full advantage of the Ducato’s width, housing a flush-mounted dual induction hob, a large 330mm x 330mm stainless steel under-mount sink, a hot and cold mixer tap and removable chopping board. The customisable Corrian* worktop is incredibly durable and brings the entire cooking area together beautifully.
Storage is maximised across the entire kitchen area, with a considered combination of cupboards, drawers and overhead cubbies. The large modular utensil drawer is located below the hob to maximise space, while the slide-out pantry gives you easy access to larger items. A dedicated space for a bin was essential, along with a 1.2m shelf designed to store frequently used items. In addition, the largest overhead cupboard also houses a hidden 50inch, pull down projector screen, ensuring entertainment for those rainy nights. The massive 85l nano compressor fridge is fitted to the centre of the unit and features a colour matched Valchromat front. Under floor heating in this section is also a real luxury on those colder mornings.
We’ve dedicated an entire page to the Romerworld RV1 over on our site. Feel free to go take a look and reach out if you have any further questions.
Big thanks.
The Romerworld team.

Loads of progress on this extremely complex interior. A build that has challenged all of us on almost every level.
We hear you ask - Why over complicate things?
Well sometimes it’s just the result of how the build has to be built! That may seem like a silly answer to the question, and there’s certainly more to it, but sometimes you only realise how wildly labour intensive an interior is whilst it’s coming to life.
Other reasons include
- client asks
Changes and tweaks to plans as we build. This is of course something we try to avoid but inevitably there are some things that just have to be changed as you go.
- Unknowns
When you’re building custom interiors there are things that just “happen” most van builders will know this and although you can plan for some of them, you can’t plan for them all.
- New products
This can be a killer! R&D, new dims, consumption increases/ decreases etc, all of which take time and have an impact on overall efficiency. We plan for it to a certain extent but a lot of it can only really be worked out as you go.
All of these things are fine so long as you call these out early and make plans to cover the cost and time implications they will undoubtedly have.
Just a few things to consider.

Fitting and finessing - seems to be all we do. Often a great team effort getting fully built units into position.
