Am a lucky guy, for real.

And I’m not just saying it.

Jess and I have been together nearly 10 years.

Since we were 15 & 16.

It has not been an easy ride.

But right now is the best we’ve ever been — as a couple, as parents, and as individuals.

Here’s some of what we’ve been through:
• Met at Kickboxing in 2015 (Jess fell for me)
• I played hard to get for a year
• Took 2 buses and 2 hours just to see each other
• Jess battled years of epilepsy and seizures
• Launched my first Kickboxing club in 2017
• Invested £50K building the business
• Alfie was born in 2019
• Made it through Covid
• Grew the club to 250+ members
• Marley was born in Jan 2024
• Downsized my 6-figure school so I could work less, be more present, and still earn £7K+/month

And now?

We’ve got two amazing kids.
A simple, happy little life.
More time for each other.

No big flex.
Just proud of how far we’ve come.
And grateful I get to do life with her.

For real. Someone told me this years ago.

Made me complete re think on how I view investments etc. I.e stuff that’s going to help my business grow and help more people.

I thought hitting 300 members across multiple locations was the “ultimate goal”.

So when I attended a business event ran by back in 2018, I wrote it down.

I’m not sure why, but 300 just sounded cool.

And over the years I got close (250 something members across 16 classes)

But in March 2024 I had a chat with myself.

“This moneys decent and I love helping all these people, but what’s it all for?”

I basically realised that building HUGE empire was for me.

At least not at this point in my life.

Instead, I wanted to:

Be around to watch my 2 boys grow up

Spend time with friends and family.

Go on weekend-long adventures around the UK

Take Jess for banging meals at nice restaurants.

Earn enough to pay my bills, invest, save, upskill, and work on exciting new projects.

Thankfully, I can take home £7,500 a month working 12 hours a week.

Now this might now impress the “big dawgs” on Instagram. But it serves me and my family pretty damn well.

The moral of the story?

Chasing more doesn’t always mean better.

Sometimes the real win isn’t scaling bigger—it’s building a life that actually feels good to live.

Define success on your own terms.

Then build your business around that.

Sorry - but 99% of instructors / coaches won’t be able to grow their business through charging pay-as-you-go.

You need a reliable, steady income that allows scalability.

Teaching my classes doesn’t feel like a “work”.

And I only seem to enjoy it more as times goes on.

I think this is partly to do with my love for martial arts,

but also because we now have 100+ members who’ve been training for 3,4 even 5yrs plus.

This makes teaching SO much more enjoyable because THEY get me and I get them.

It’s so important that as you grow your classes/ business to be 100% yourself.

Not everyone will like you for it.

But, that doesn’t matter because some people will LOVE you and your authentic self.

If you put on a facade front he start it’ll bite you in arse further down the line.

Spinning hook kick + a “ooowee” = 👌

You’ll be ahead of 90% of Instructors when you do this.

During step 4, use the online booking system and enter their details FOR THEM, instead of leaving it to them to do themselves.

The day you get comfortable with phoning people and booking then in, the day your business changes forever.

Not enough instructors do this.

Don’t be like other instructors…
