✨Client Transformation✨

A huge well done to one of my PT clients! Incredible work and just 3 WEEKS difference!😱

My client came to me with the goal of getting ready for her wedding in 6 months time- she works in a busy office job, so she is tied to a desk for the majority of her day but wanted to lose some weight and tone up before the big day!

Here’s what we’ve initially put into place:

🏋🏽‍♀️Committing to 3 days weight training and 2 cardio sessions per week

🍷Cutting back on alcoholic beverages

🚶🏽‍♀️Having an achievable step target to aim for

🥙Education on nutrition and macro groups to be able to fuel body better

So really we’ve not done anything drastic here but the change already is crazyyy physically and mentally!

It doesn’t require the world to make a difference, just putting a good structure in place and some commitment to make it happen!

“The gym was that busy I couldn’t get all my exercises done!!”😡⬇️

Here’s a common frustration that gym go-ers face on a daily basis… The machine you want being in use!!😮‍💨 (I mean, how dare they? Do they not know that’s what I need to use right now this second? 🤷🏽‍♀️🤣)

So question is: How do we get around this?

Well in one of a few ways…

1️⃣PANIC and leave the gym IMMEDIATELY!!! (Just kidding please don’t do this🤣)

2️⃣(On a more serious note) Politely ask the person using the machine how many sets they have left. Let’s say they have 1 set left, you can wait patiently for them to finish and then it’s your turn✅

3️⃣You asked the above question and they said they have another 3 sets. This is too long to wait, instead you can move along to the next exercise in your session and come back to it later🔄

4️⃣Lets assume you don’t have any other exercises left, so now you need to find a substitute exercise. For example you’re trying to get on a shoulder press machine, go grab some dumbbells and go do a DB shoulder press instead!🏋🏽‍♀️

How to ✨ACTUALLY✨ build your glutes like this🤗

As we have headed into the new year, as per usual many fitness coaches will do their upmost best to get you to buy their ‘best selling programme’ by chatting 💩 online

Don’t get caught up with all the nonsense of “do 1000 clamshells with a b***y band” or “do 20 minutes of jump squats per day” to “build your b00ty”🤦🏽‍♀️

I’m telling you- I’ve been there done that, wasted years doing loads of “banded glute activation” before my training🙄

It doesn’t work. It might ‘warm up’ your glutes but it’s for sure not going to help grow them much bigger. Doing a warmup set on the exercise you intend to do works just fine.

To build- you needs weights, both light and heavy, a variety of rep ranges, volume of exercise across the week and food- lots and lots of food.

If you’re stuck with your progress and need some direction- I coach people to understand the fundamentals of training, progress their lifts, get educated on nutrition and build a body and mindset they are damn well proud of! ✨

What NOT to do as you enter 2024⬇️

“This year I’m going to do 20k steps a day, stop drinking alcohol, go to the gym twice every single day, completely overhaul my diet (obvs no carbs or ‘bad’ foods), take up knitting, read a book a week, travel to 365 different places, meditate for 2 hours daily and only ever take the stairs”

😮‍💨 Now that sounds like an awful lot of stuff doesn’t it?

Thing is- if you don’t already do part of the things you’re planning on doing, it’s going to feel awfully overwhelming trying to implement all that at once.

That much so, that I would give it a month before some of the things start to drop off because you literally can’t keep up with what you’ve decided to set out to do!

My advice?

✨ B A B Y S T E P S ✨

If you don’t already go to the gym, setting yourself a target to go every single day is a lot. Try starting at 1-3 times per week and build up from there.

Let’s say you don’t read, target yourself to read 5-10 pages daily and work up to reading a chapter per day.

If you currently have no clue about nutrition, start by learning about macronutrients, learn about what’s in the food you eat and enjoy and how you can slowly adapt that- make better choices going forwards.

Now, I’m not saying don’t make New Year’s resolutions- in fact I think it’s a great time to start to implement new things that will benefit your life in the coming year!

What I am saying is don’t try to do everything all at once.

Small steps can make big changes. You want to make small changes to your life that you can sustain; forever basically!

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas🎄

I’d like to say a big thank-you to all my clients past and present, for allowing my to do the job that I love so much once again this year.

Being a Personal Trainer and Coach, I love to see how fitness helps people in so many different ways.

It brings me joy to I see people going from complete gym novices or hating exercise to actually enjoying a training routine and coming to the gym!

Some of the best ‘transformations’ I help people with are the ones the eyes can’t see. The build up in confidence, the lifestyle changes (that actually stick!), the knowledge gained. All these things are some of the most valuable I help people with.

And finally, Clients “flying the nest” (this part is very bitter sweet for me😪) It’s sad to see people go, but clients leaving and being able to uphold their routine on their own means I’ve done my job well😌

Coaching is such a rewarding job, and I can’t wait to help our current and future clients in 2024! (Past clients always welcome back too 🫶🏽)

What’s one of the biggest mistakes people make in their fitness journey’s?👇🏽

𝙋𝙚𝙤𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙥 𝙬𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙨𝙚𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙨.

Here’s an example: ‘Susie’ wanted to lose a stone. She did in a few months. So then she went back to her old ways and ended up back where she started and couldn’t understand why🤷🏽‍♀️

𝙇𝙚𝙩’𝙨 𝙗𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙠 𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙙𝙤𝙬𝙣 𝙩𝙤 𝙨𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙚 𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙢𝙨:
Say you’ve got a houseplant, you’re tending to it, watering it, making sure the conditions are right, it’s growing and it finally comes out in full bloom!🌸 𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙙𝙞𝙙 𝙞𝙩! But then it comes to a time when it’s season is over- you don’t just stop caring for it do you? The plant would die🥀 So of course, you carry on nurturing it until it blooms again✨

𝙒𝙚 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙣𝙤 𝙙𝙞𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙩- If we reach where we want to be and just stop; We won’t stay where we have worked so hard to get to and we certainly won’t grow anymore! If we go back to our old habits, everything we have done will be reversed🔄

Being ‘fit and healthy’ is a continual process, it’s something that you can only maintain as part of your 𝙡𝙞𝙛𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙮𝙡𝙚 𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙞𝙘𝙚𝙨. Once you hit a goal- you set a new goal, there is always room for growth!🌻

No- you don’t need to be in a strict calorie deficit and do endless amounts of cardio forever. BUT you do need to keep track of what you are consuming and continue to stay active as part of your overall lifestyle.

“I’ve been to the gym 5 times this week and I look the same” 😕

So what’s your next move? To quit? Because it’s “not working”?❌
If you quit now… how do you expect to get to where you want to be🤷🏽‍♀️

The fact is: Changes take TIME. Let’s say your goal is to achieve that ‘Toned’ look. That requires dropping down your body fat and building up muscle tissue. It’s NOT an overnight process. It’s something that takes months/years to achieve and maintain⏳

Will you see changes everyday? No. Will you see changes every week? Maybe, maybe not. But will you see changes after months of CONSISTENCY? Yes. ☑️

“She believed she could, so she did”

2021… The year is almost up, just 18 days left!😧 They say a lot can change in a year, and they are sure CORRECT🤩

This time last year I was in a VERY different place to what I am now. This year I’ve PUSHED myself to my absolute limits and done things that I’ve ALWAYS just dreamed about. I’ve had a full year of GROWTH and personal DEVELOPMENT🏆

So THIS YEAR, I have:

🌟Completed my training for Gym Instructing and Personal Training📚
🌟Launched my very own Personal Training Business to help others learn and love training the way that I do!🏋🏽‍♀️
🌟Competed in Bikini Bodybuilding for the first time (A dream of mine since I was 17!) 👙
🌟Got braces fitted to fix my teeth- I’ve always been self conscious of them as they were overcrowded but in recent years I came to really hate them. So I invested in braces and now I’m learning to love my new smile😁
🌟Somehow survived a whole year without going on a holiday for some sunshine🥶(yes I’m calling that an achievement🤣)

So what’s on the cards for me next year? To be totally honest: I’m not yet thinking about it. Right now I’m focusing on enjoying the rest of the FESTIVE season and getting into the New Year… Then I will take it from there🙌🏽
