Most people are so focused on where they want to be that they completely ignore how far they’ve already come.

They look at the scales and think:

“I should be further ahead by now.”

Meanwhile they’ve:

✔️ Started strength training

✔️ Built a more consistent routine

✔️ Increased their daily activity

✔️ Improved their food choices

✔️ Drunk more water

✔️ Gained confidence in themselves

The scales only tell a tiny part of the story.

The real progress is in the habits you’ve built and the person you’re becoming.

So before you beat yourself up today...

Stop thinking the secret is a fancy exercise.

Ab wheel rollouts.

Crunches.

Leg raises.

Planks.

They’re all fine.

But none of them outwork a week of takeaways, skipped workouts, and “I’ll start again on Monday.”

The people who get leanest aren’t doing magical ab workouts.

They’re just more consistent with the basics.

✔️ Training regularly

✔️ Eating enough protein

✔️ Moving more

✔️ Getting back on track quickly when life gets in the way

One missed workout doesn’t matter.

One takeaway doesn’t matter.

One weekend doesn’t matter.

What matters is how long you stay off track afterwards.

Abs are built by consistency.

Not by the exercise you’re watching right now.

A holiday doesn’t derail your progress.

The 2 weeks before it and the 2 weeks after it usually do.

Keep training.
Hit your protein.
Get your steps in.

Build momentum before you go away, and you’ll come back feeling in control instead of needing a reset.

If you’ve ever thought you need to train 6 days a week to get results...

You don’t.

Most of the people you see here have jobs.

Kids.

Busy schedules.

Holidays.

Meals out.

The lot.

And yet they’re still making progress.

Why?

Because they’re consistent.

Not perfect.

Consistent.

They show up when they can.

They do the basics well.

They stop looking for the “best” plan and start sticking to one.

That’s what gets results.

Not smashing yourself into the ground for 2 weeks and then disappearing for a month.

Just turning up.

Again.

And again.

And again.

Boring?

Maybe.

Effective?

100%.

Usually not hunger…just habit, stress or boredom.

A few small changes can make a massive difference. 👊🏻

You don’t struggle with motivation.

You struggle with what happens AFTER motivation.

Because starting?
Most people are good at that.

New week.
Fresh plan.
“I’m all in this time.”

Then life happens.

Stress.
Poor sleep.
Busy week.
Kids.
Work.
A bad weigh-in.

And suddenly it all unravels.

So you stop.

Again.

But honestly?

The people who actually get in shape aren’t motivated all the time.

They’ve just stopped treating fitness like an “all or nothing” game.

They understand that:

• Low energy workouts still count
• A 20-minute session still counts
• One takeaway doesn’t ruin the week
• “Good enough” beats perfect for 12 weeks straight

That’s the real difference.

Most busy professionals I speak to around Sheffield are either:

🔴 Fully on plan
or
🔴 Completely off the rails

No middle ground.

But long-term progress lives in the middle ground.

The scrappy workouts.
The average weeks.
The walks you nearly skipped.
The sessions you “couldn’t be bothered” to do… but did anyway.

So stop asking:

“How do I stay motivated?”

Ask yourself:

“What’s my plan on the days I don’t feel like it?” 👊🏻
