As your coach I am not your cheerleader...
But i will absolute support and challenge you
And i will absolutely celebrate your wins with you too!
Today I am celebrating a client getting offered a new promoted role.
They previously would not have seen this role as possible for them. They previously would not have thought themselves capable of the step up.
Now they feel excited by the challenge, already generating lots of ideas.
What are you celebrating this week?

What's an EXACT goal? Let's begin....
I personally prefer setting EXACT goals to SMART goals.
Much of the logic is the same but it adds in the important element of emotion by making your goal eXciting. And we all know the brain responds to emotion.
If you're struggling with a goal try to rebuild it using this framework and let me know how you get on 🙌
Have you heard of EXACT goals before?
Ps I'm a leadership and confidence coach, drop me a message if you're seeking some support and challenge in your life right now

Word of the year: where the heck do you start?
Well I'm glad you asked, here's some tips to work out what word would best support and positively challenge you this year.
Ps you don't have to stick to one word, maybe you need a couple or a statement.
Also ps you can change if it isn't working for you
I had "intentional" as my word of the year last year, it helped me make decisions and to be kinder to myself when i was finding things tough.
I am trying on BOLD this year, for both my work and personal life. I'm not sure bold comes naturally to me so I'm enjoying the challenge. But I also think I need a softer word too, being strong all the time is tiring, right?
Do you have a word for your year? I'd love to hear how it impacts you

Are you feeling more pessimistic than optimistic?
Give these tips a try.
Optimism bias is seen as a positive and motivating trait of freelances and business leaders.
But the things is when it often feels like we're faced with hurdles, and negative news it's not always easy to choose optimism.
As I shared with my email group recently optimism is part nature and part nurture so it can be learnt.
Give these techniques a try and let me know which calls to you.

So what can you do about it?
I heard this quote at a recent coaching exchange that I co lead and it hit pretty hard.
What do you know?
Do you know that you're procrastinating and it's holding you back?
Do you know that something feels in conflict in your life but it feels too difficult?
Do you know that you need to learn to say no?
Do you know that you need some boundaries for you?
What are you doing about it?
Now don't me wrong, there is no magic fix that fits all.
And let me add here that I recognise we all have different challenges and different privileges.
The doing, the action, doesn't need to be big, and it doesn't need to be expensive. But it does need to be.
What steps are you ready to take?
Need some support and challenge, drop me a message to chat :)

Will you end the week reflecting positively with me?😊
Here's some lovely client feedback I received from the MD at an SME doing great things recently.
What can you reflect on positively today?
Thoroughly enjoyed working with James Lund-Lack MCIOB as he developed into his role as MD at iHus Granny Annexe
A particular highlight for me was James' love of sailing which gave some great metaphors to work with. What metaphors could you take from your passions to support you in working through challenges in your leader role?
iHus and James also had little experience of coaching which is always a joy to explore.
I worked with James on my Purposeful Executive Coaching option, which is ideal for leaders and emerging leaders. But don't listen to me, read James' words instead.
PS.Bonus of leadership coaching.... we work with your organisation, so they pay 😉

🍃BREATHE.... A clear hump day reminder🍃
Ok so true story, I used to forget to breathe. When I'm focused but specifically when I was stressed my breathing would be inconsistent and I would regularly take big sighs to sort myself out again. Did / does anyone else do this?? Please tell me I am not alone...
When I first got my balance disorder my therapist taught me how breathing could help.
It did.
When I learnt about emotional management and coping with stress I read the power of breath to move me from my emotional chimp reaction to choosing my logical human response.
It works.
And then possibly my favourite of all. The realisation that "fear is excitement without breath". A reminder I have told myself many times in the past few years, and without which I wouldn't be where I am today.
It focuses.
So next time you're stressed, or nervous, remind yourself to take a few breaths, and pause. See the difference it makes.
Let me know how you get on.
