Abbey Lane in the cup. We played a good football team, who passed and moved the ball very well to be fair to them. The team battled well at the start, but the game got away from us at the start of the 2nd half. We go again next week in our next cup match. Man of the match went to Woody. Pulled off some excellent saves for us today as he usually does to keep the game close first half

League match vs Stocksbridge. This was probably the most enjoyable game to watch this season. Two decent sides going at it. The team showed brilliant battling qualities to keep a clean sheet. Much stronger tracking back and tackling all across the pitch than we have seen recently, to be very solid without the ball. Some great pass and move, making good quick connections at the top of the pitch, to create plenty of chances and be dangerous once again coming forward. The goal came from Brody after battling to win the second knock down from Oscar’s initial chance from a corner. Man of the match went to Ted. We’ve been asking him to battle without the ball, stay calmer with the ball at his feet, to pass and move and make those connections at the top of the pitch, and he did both those things the best he’s done all season to shut down their winger and link well with his fellow midfielders

The September monthly assist award went to George. We had assists this month from Flynn, Oscar and George, with George picking up the award. We have played some good attacking football this month and George has settled into our team brilliantly. He brings bags of energy to the pitch, makes good runs forward with the ball and has linked up well with his fellow midfielders to help us score goals 👏

League game vs Ecclesfield Red Rose. A good game of football against a good passing side. Mistakes early on cost us, with Woody keeping us in the game. We grew into the game, in the middle and end of the game we had good moments and chances. Just needed to find those killer final balls to score more, and hold our defensive shape more. Goals came from George A, with an assist from George W. Man of the match went to Woody. He was simply outstanding. Gave an exhibition of shot stopping today. Making double and triple saves, springing back up quickly to save the rebounds

League game vs Sheffield FC. This was a really strong attacking performance and great to watch them play quick passing one-two football as a team, to create a good attacking link between the midfield/striker and create lots of chances. The team battled hard defensively first half, some hairy moments 2nd half without the ball, but Woody was excellent in goal when required to get the job done. Goals came from Oscar, George W, Flynn & George A, all unassisted after those players won the ball and scored. Man of the match today went to George W. Without the ball he always tracked back and battled to win it back, showing great work rate, and when he got the ball on the wing he looked to play the one-twos inside with our other attacking central attacking players Oscar, Brody and George A and help us create chances

League game vs Maltby this morning. A good game of junior football. The team played some really nice football across the game to create a lot of chances and we looked dangerous every time we went forward. Positional lapses without the ball left our wings exposed for the goals we conceded, but outside of those moments it was a positive battling performance today. Goals came from George A and Brody, with assists from Oscar and George W. Man of the match went to George A. He led the line really well, working hard and showing great strength to win and hold the ball up at the top of the pitch. This enabled him to link well with our attacking midfield players Oscar, Brody, George W and Ted to help create good chances

Start of the league campaign today vs Porter Pumas. After a decent pre-season unfortunately an off day to start with. Not quite at it everywhere across the pitch. After a tight first half we let it go away from us 2nd half. We go again next week and looking for a strong response from the team. Our goal came from George A assisted by Flynn. Man of the match went to Flynn. He worked hard off the ball and looked lively with the ball at his feet, helping to create chances for us

Our goal assists winner for our pre-season campaign went to Oscar. He continues to be at the centre of many of our attacking moves, holding the play together well in central midfield. Plays with the right combination of driving runs and passing, waiting for the runner to go and then able to pick out the right through ball. For this reason he continues to create plenty of chances and goals for the team. Well played Oscar ⚽️👏

Final friendly of the pre-season before we start the league next week was a really entertaining game vs Sheffield FC. A slow start in the first half + couple of lapses put us behind in the game but 2nd half we laid siege on their goal and created so many chances. On another day we score multiple goals, with their keeper having an outstanding game, plus multiple one on ones and blocks/clearances off the line including two stunning overhead kicks from Oscar. Our goal came unassisted from Brody, but as a team we could and should have had multiple assists today from good passes and crosses. Man of the match for a steady assured defensive performance went to Owen. Playing a chunk of the game as the single defender he sometimes had to deal with multiple players on the counter attack, but dealt with this well through good positioning and anticipation to put in some great challenges

Friendly vs Redfearns this morning. Against a team two divisions higher than us playing in the B division vs our D division status, we managed to hold them to a 2-1 loss. This in itself was a fantastic result against a very good football team. We struggled against the quick pass and movement first half as a confident Redfearns shifted the ball about brilliantly, but we managed to come in to the break only 2-0 down thanks to some brilliant saves. We came out second half and really battled hard against a superior opponent. We picked up our game and managed to work the ball better to create moments, and closed the ball down better. Our goal came from George A after a good cross from Brody. Man of the match today was a joint award. Firstly, playing across two positions during the game George W put in a brilliant defensive midfield shift for the team. Never stopped running and hassling to win the ball back for us. Superb work rate and fitness 👏 Secondly, we owe that result to an absolute superstar keeping performance from Woody. Absolutely brilliant shot stopping, owned his penalty area to marshall his defence and repelled multiple attacks to give us a chance. Truly excellent performance 👏
