Dinnington Town FC U11’s

Presentation evening last night to celebrate a successful U10’s season for the kids. A brilliant result in our league in the 2nd half of the season, which will see us promoted to a high division for U11’s and we reached a cup semi-final. We’ve seen some big improvements from the team this season. It has been great to see their continued progress and we are really happy they got the success they deserved on the pitch. There was an award for everyone on the night, with the additional awards as follows:

Managers Player = Woody
Most Improved = Flynn
Parents Player = Woody
Players Player = Harry
Most Assists = Oscar
Top Scorer = Freddie

Last league game of our U10 season vs Sheffield FC. We left the best performance of the season till the last game. Easily the most complete team performance of the season. The passing and movement + the finishing in the first half was up there with the best we’ve seen all season, and as a result they put the game to bed by half time. Woody dealt with everything that came his way, the defending was really solid, the midfield three of Harry, Cruz & Oscar were outstanding today and linked brilliantly with Freddie up front. Goals today came from multiple for Freddie and multiple for Harry + an OG, with assists from Oscar, Cruz and Freddie. It was therefore a very easy team man of the match. Excellent today and we’ve now set the bar for next season. Today ensured we will finish high up in the league, so will be promoted back up to a high league for U11’s 👏⚽️

Cup semi final vs Charnock. For most of the game it was really closely fought and was 1-0 for a long period of time, but unfortunately after the 2nd goal mid way through the 2nd half heads went down slightly and we lost a couple more late on and Charnock won 4-1. A good run to get to the semi final, losing to a good side. The goal came unassisted from Oscar - a lovely run and finish. Man of the match went to Isaac. He had his best and most consistent game for us playing in both defence and midfield. Tackled well when playing defence and battled hard in midfield too. On to the last league game of the season where we hope to finish strong and get promoted ⚽️

Cup quarter final vs Thurcroft. In a very tight tussle we emerged 1-0 winners. We came out of the blocks quickly and a goal in the 1st minute scored by Freddie, assisted by Oscar, was enough to take us through to the semi final! More chances came and went for both teams as the game wore on and the tension mounted, but we managed to hold firm and get a second clean sheet of the cup competition, which is what we’ve been striving for more of this season. Man of the match went to Harvey. He had a good game taking the ball forwards, with some good driving runs, and he was unlucky not to get some assists with good balls into the box from outwide

Our March assists award went to Oscar. He is having a very consistent season for us with his forward play. Playing at the heart of our midfield and sometimes as a forward, he continues to be involved in a lot of our goals - getting both goals and assists. Keep up the good work Oscar 👏

Last 16 cup match vs Rawmarsh. We started the game slowly but managed to get ahead and stay tight at the back. Second half we came out and played like the team we know they can be, and we ran out 4-0 winners to progress to the quarter final. Great to keep the scoring amount we are doing, but the biggest thing we have wanted in recent weeks was to stay tighter at the back, so delighted for Woody and the defence to get the clean sheet. Goals came from a hat-trick for Oscar and a stunning strike from distance by Flynn. Assists came from Harry (x2) and Freddie. Man of the match went to Flynn. Everything that came his way he dealt with. Tackled and intercepted well. When he gets the ball he stays calm and finds the pass

League match vs Sheffield Junior Lions today. Against a very good passing side we kept the game tight and kept ahead into the 2nd half. We couldn’t find that next goal to push on. Ultimately we were susceptible all game with our tracking back and marking vs a team that moved the ball well. That pressure told in the end and it went against us late on despite good performances from Woody & Flynn. These were a very good footballing side and will be up there with us in this league at the end of the season. We learn the lessons and go again. Goals came from Freddie and Oscar, with assists for Oscar, Harry & Cruz. Man of the match went to Flynn. He was everywhere today, often trying to deal with two or three players at the same time when they broke forward, but he stuck to his task and pressured the ball to make it hard for them. When he won it back was calm in his ball distribution out of defence

League match vs Whiston this afternoon. We agreed to play 6 aside when the opposition had 6 players to make it a fair game. It made for an interesting end to end game with more space, and the team had to adapt. We definitely weren’t at our best today and gave some sloppy goals away to make it difficult for ourselves, but we had enough in attack to get the job done again. Goals came from multiple goals for Oscar, and goals for Freddie and Cruz, with multiple assists from Freddie and an assist from Cruz. Man of the match went to Oscar. Played across two positions in central midfield and upfront. He passed the ball around, got himself into good attacking positions and finished his chances brilliantly today to get us over the line

League match vs Swinton this morning. On a very tough pitch in strong winds the lads adapted really well with our ball movement and passing. Created lots of chances, looked dangerous going forward and got plenty of goals. We had lapses at the back to let them back in the game either side of half time, but got the job the done in the end to carry on our good start to the league. Goals came today from multiple for Freddie and a goal for Isaac, with multiple assists from Oscar and an assist for Cruz. Man of the match today went to Freddie. He led the front line brilliantly for us today. Good hold up play, driving runs and strong finishing

Monthly assist award for the league games in February and couple of friendlies in January was a joint award to our midfielders Harry and Oscar. We talk every week to the team about team work and making sure we find the right passes to team mates to build the play. These two are consistently getting the assists because more often than not they make good decisions with the ball, pass when they need to and play together with their midfield partners and forwards to create chances for the team. Well done to you two 👏⚽️
