VI TENNIS COMMUNITY HEADS TO YORK FOR MATCHDAY #2
The award-winning NIC Yorkshire VI Doubles League, bringing together visually impaired tennis players from across the county to play in a competitive and supportive environment, gets its second matchday of the season underway tomorrow (30/5) at York St John University. South Yorkshire topped the leaderboard at the end of matchday #1, played at Nuffield Tennis Academy in Hull, but with three more sessions to go, there's all to play for.

League organiser David Wallace said: "We’re excited for the second instalment of the NIC Yorkshire VI Doubles League as the Yorkshire VI tennis community comes together once again this weekend. Four Yorkshire regions, three playing categories and four fixtures in a round robin format. And with everything still to play for, the competition is heating up! This promises to continue to showcase inclusive grassroot community tennis across Yorkshire."

What a wonderful evening at the LTA National Awards! Inspiring stories all around! Congratulations to all the finalists and winners 👏

While our competition, The NIC Yorkshire Visually Impaired Doubles League, didn’t bring home the award in it's category, the experience has strengthened our determination to do even more for our community😁

NEW SEASON SERVED
The ground-breaking NIC Yorkshire VI Tennis Doubles League gets its new season underway next Saturday 18/4/26 at Nuffield Tennis Academy in Hull. Four teams from North, South, West and East Yorkshire will compete in the league, with three further match days scheduled at York St John University (30/5), John Charles Centre for Sport in Leeds (11/7) and Sheffield Hallamshire (26/9).

Pictured, league organiser David Wallace and members of the North Yorkshire VI tennis team, winners of the inaugural league in 2025, at the Redmayne Bentley Yorkshire Tennis & Padel Awards presentation evening in March. The league is the first of its kind for visually impaired players in the country and has been shortlisted for the LTA national awards as ‘Competition of the Year’. League members travel to Roehampton this week and we will be keeping our fingers crossed for a Yorkshire win at the awards evening on Thursday. Good luck to everyone!
