To all Sheffield Vipers, past, and present. Thank you.
13 years of flag football in green, in the steel city will never be forgotten by all who have played for us, against us, and those who have observed us.
The play, to the last. The first catch, touchdown, interception, sack, and win, to the last, and many more moments in between have created our legacy.
To the people that birthed this team with the dream of being part of one of the biggest growing sports in the world, thank you.
Many amazing people have worn the green jersey, with the snake embroidered crest over their heart, and it will certainly remain, and those who did, they certainly wont forget.
But the story doesn’t end here. The growth of flag football will continue in Sheffield, but in a different colour, and under a different banner with the Sheffield Giants.
Many amazing things are yet to come, and we would love it if you joined us on this journey.

NFFL 2022 has come to a close and what a season. Not the finish the green squad wanted but definitely showing signs of a special squad developing. In the NFFL PLAYOFFS we finished 0-2 losing to Coventry Cougars 13-19 after a very slow start to the day by us but credit to Coventry for grinding out a win. Then a great game finishing 36-54 to the in the plate. Credit to our rookies .mike88 and for stepping in to play prem ball in their first year. Huge props to finishing 🥈 for receiving TDs in the prem, 🥇 for pick 6s(even after sitting out for most of the season through injury & joint 🥇 in interceptions and PBUs.
Back to the training ground after a break getting ready for 2023.

Playoffs here we come.
A slow start to the 2022 season was less than ideal, going 0-3 on GD1. An 8-0 run after that blip reestablished our intentions of winning the NEC. A loss to the Glasgow Hornets was the only bump in the road as we finished 12-4 this year. 2nd place behind the Titans in the NEC division, 4th in the Northern Premiership and 6th in the nation. We also went 5-1 against the HNC, which was a pleasing outcome for the Green squad.
We now turn out attention to the Coventry Cougars in the first round of the NFFL Playoffs on September 10th.

The Orange squad had their final Gameday in Rotherham vs the Newcastle Blackhawks and South Yorkshire Roosters. The first game against Newcastle didn’t go well against the top of the table Rivals. Newcastle scoring at will and the Orange squad unable to establish a consistent reply.
The game ended 52-0 to the Blackhawks.
The final game of the year was one we were hoping to finish strongly, however the Roosters revolving door of new players were able to put together decent drives and maintain their scoring, whilst the Orange squad again struggled with miscommunication blown assignments and dropped passes.
The Roosters took the game 25-12, which left the Orange squad finishing 3rd in the Conference & 7th in the Northern Division for 2022. A decent season back but we know we can be so much better. Much to work on for 2023. Training starts now.

First game vs Crows. A slow start saw us go down 2 scores, crows were unable to convert the XPs. Eventually our offence and defence began to put some points on the board with Jordan Hart flying through for a TD and boosted by 3 interceptions by Dan Padley. Deon Lancashire scored just before the half to make it a one score game, we’d left too much time on the clock and the crows scored again as time expired, going in the half 14-24, Crows.
Second half, we made some adjustments and woke up. With still a lot to do on O & our D having to make a stop or 2, we had to start fast. Jordan Hart helping himself and Mike Harrison adding another to take a small lead of 3. Crows then drove back and scored, converting this time, to make it a 4 point game with 2 mins drill on the cards for a win. We executed well, Dan Padley securing a laser from Wege to score and make it 33-31 to us. However, we’d scored too quickly, leaving 30 seconds remaining. Crows drove downfield for the win but an overthrown pass on 3rd and 4th & goal, gave us the win. Great comeback win from Green, holding firm on D, which could be put down to 6 PBU’s by Deon Lancashire securing us 2nd place in the division.
The final game of the season was against the Samurai. Slightly more straight forward but still an end to end game to begin with. Mike Harrison opening scoring with 2 TDs on great grabs and Luke Bennett running onto a 35 yard pass from James Wege for the score. Phil Ireland and Dan Padley also got in on the scoring as we converted all but 1 XP.
The highlights of the game were a total of 6 interceptions by the Lancashire brothers (Deon - 4 & Ash - 2), Ash being denied a Pick 6 due to questionable positioning of the line judge 👀😝. Phil Ireland continuing to be a menace from blitz also helped as we were informed of the finer details of contacting the QB calls.
The game finished 34-18 to Green and we now move on to prepare for finals day on September 10th.

Gameday 5 - cross conference. Vipers orange travelled to host Darlington steam, which was closer to Middlesbrough in the end. Vipers orange had a small squad travel and in first game they had a shootout against a strong comets side but couldn’t do enough to pull out the win after a slow start. Second game saw the Vipers Orange put in a strong performance in what was quite a chippy game. Offence and defence firing well to secure the win against the colts. The final game was a close affair again against a strong silvercats team. Vipers not managing to move the ball enough to get more than 6 points on the board even with the help of a decent effort from the defence to hold the silvercats to 2 scores. Driving down field in the closing minutes for the win and unfortunately couldn’t punch it through on fourth down to keep the drive alive.

Gameday 5 - Cross conference. This was a big one for Vipers Green, facing off against the Glasgow Hornets, Glasgow Killerbees and Renfrewshire Raptors. Game 1 vs Hornets was a close affair, unfortunately without our GB DB Ollie Dyer through injury. We felt the best defence was offence and took it to the Hornets in the first half going up 14-0, with some excellent play on both sides of the ball shutting down the powerhouse offence and silencing the stacked defence. The second half unfortunately went to the Hornets as the rain came down they adjusted incredibly to the weather and showed their talent, running out on top, winning 14-28 with a stinging rushing TD from Nicky Farrell on the last play of the game for the kill shot. Great, hard fought game shame about the result. Next we faced the Killerbees who put up a tremendous fight throughout the game, always looking to pressure us and make us work for the yards. Vipers win 34-2. A credit to Glasgow Football and it’s a talented second team. The final game was a must win against the unknown Raptors. They started well putting up a strong first drive only to be stopped shorted by our D, who were having a day. The offence clicked well throughout and made sure we took away 2 wins from north of the wall. 40-0 vipers. A great trip as always.
