This is the official page for The Friends of Chapeltown Park, We disbanded due to lack of members at the end of 2025.
We are a charity trying to improve Chapeltown Park. Chapeltown Park is based in the north of the city of Sheffield and is a part of the Ecclesfield Parish. We have managed to revamp the Butterfly Glade, which is based on the brook at the bottom of the park. It has a hopscotch and lots of peace & quiet down there for dog walkers or to just relax. The outdoor gym floor has now been renewed thanks to Ecclesfield Parish Council grant and the remaining money left from disbanding our group. Hopefully it will last for another 12 years. Many thanks to everyone who voted for us at the Ecclesfield school event last year.

Ecclesfield Parish Council is delighted to congratulate one of our councillors, John Housley, on being awarded the British Empire Medal in this year’s New Year Honours List, in recognition of his services to the community in Chapeltown.
This well-deserved honour reflects John’s long-standing dedication, hard work, and commitment to public service and to the communities he serves. John has also served as Chairman of Ecclesfield Parish Council on three occasions, demonstrating exceptional leadership and commitment over many years. His contribution has made a real and lasting difference, and we are incredibly proud to have him as part of the Council.

Huge congratulations to FOCP’s Doris Denton, who received the Hall of Fame Award tonight at the North Sheffield Community and Volunteer awards in recognition of her amazing and tireless work over 20 years making Chapeltown Park a wonderful place to be.

The other last thing we did was repaint the sign at the Newton Hall entrance. Ed Brown very kindly did the artwork and Parks Dept refitted it. Thank you

We're very pleased that we have been awarded the grant to be able to redo the damaged matting on the outdoor gym in Chapeltown Park. Thanks to everyone who voted for us at the Community event on 7th October. As you know we are disbanding the Friends group shortly so this will be our last fundraising. We all enjoyed doing things for the park this last 20 years and this has been a very difficult decision

There is the public meeting to vote on money for the outdoor gym tonight Tues 7th October at 6pm at Ecco school Lady Mabel Hall if you want to support us..
We are asking for £9k to repair the flooring of the gym.

We had a good get together today Sat 19th September 2025 to remember Kath Burgess and Graham Oxley.

We are having a get together in memory of Graham Oxley and Kathleen Burgess on SATURDAY 20th SEPTEMBER 2025 at 11am. You are welcome to come and have a cup of tea or coffee with us. Ed Brown has made a bench of Graham and we are installing a plaque for Kath.

Thank you to everyone who came down to the park today for our Easter Trail. Well over 200 children took part and hopefully had lots of fun in the sun

Tomorrow, Sat 12th April 2025, we're hoping the weather will stay fine for our FREE EASTER EGG HUNT in Chapeltown Park. Time: 10.30 am to 12.30 pm - meet at the bandstand to collect your instructions, then head out into the woods to hunt for little tokens to bring back and claim your free Easter egg or chocolate prize!
There will also be free children's crafts and lots of fun.
