🏒 STICK TAPS - PART 2 🏒

The Stings played their final games of the 2026 British Para Ice Hockey League this past weekend with the second being played down in Peterborough on Sunday.

This was the second game of the weekend and a win against the Phantoms would ensure the Stings with a second place finish in the league table thanks to win the night before.

It didn't take the Stings long to find the back of the net with Kirsty Van Der Poll bagging her very first league goal within the opening minute of the game.

From that point the Stings controlled most of the game and managed to bag another six after the opener.

With goals coming from Ash Mason, Jurrian Raa, Paul Brown, Jake Oakley, Kirsty Van Der Poll with her second, and a first league goal from Joseph Gill, the game was won.

Kirsty Van Der Poll collected the Player of the Game award from Phantoms coach, Ian Offers while behind the scenes it was Dean Rhodes who was chosen as this game's Hardest Worker by captain John Oakley 👏

With a final score of 7-0 the Stings moved behind the Kings in the league standings and now both teams wait to see who they will play in the Playoff Weekend next month.

Congratulations to Kirsty and Dean for their efforts during the game and to all of the Stings for their highest ever league finish 👏

🏒 STICK TAPS - PART 1 🏒

The Stings played their final games of the 2026 British Para Ice Hockey League this past weekend with the first being at home to the Cardiff Huskies Para Ice Hockey Club.

We welcomed Lauren from the Nottingham Nightwings who presented our match night presentations on behalf of our team sponsors, Matrix Frames & Displays Limited 👏

Lauren was joined my team captains, Barry Grayson and Shannon Mitchell for the ceremonial Puck Drop before the game.

The Huskies we missing key players and that gave the Stings the opportunity to overturn their 3-0 loss from their first encounter down in Wales.

Knowing they needed to overturn the three goals, your Stings pushed hard early and by the end of the first period the Stings had four to their name.

The Huskies tried hard but a short bench meant they couldn't keep up with the pace and passing of the Stings.

Four more goals would follow and the Stings secured a dominant 8-0 win and didn't allow a single shot on goaltender Bryan Hackworth.

After the game Lauren from the Nottingham Nightwings would return to present the Player of the Game awards to Huskies Josh Davis, and to our own Ash Mason after bagging his first ever British Para Ice Hockey League goal 👏

Behind the scenes it was Kirsty Van Der Poll who was chosen to receive the Hardest Worker award by captain Barry Grayson 👏

The Stings would then do it all again less then 24 hours later with a road trip down to Peterborough to take on the Phantoms... Come back for Stick Taps - Part 2 later on today 😀

👑🐝 STINGS DO THE DOUBLE 🐝👑

This past weekend saw your Sheffield Steelkings B-team, the 'Stings' play their final games of the 2026 British Para Ice Hockey League season.

Not only did they win their final two games against both Cardiff and Peterborough, but the results mean they secured their highest ever league finish too!

The results created a Sheffield 1-2, by putting the Stings into 2nd place, just behind the Kings in 1st 💪

Late on Saturday they welcomed a travelling Cardiff Huskies to IceSheffield, knowing they would not only have to win, but get more than a 3-0 score to overturn the first game result and leapfrog the Huskies in the standings.

By the end of the game, the Stings had scored 8 and not allowed a single shot on goaltender Bryan Hackworth 👏

It also saw returnee, Paul Brown earn his first hat-trick with the club, while Ash Mason scored his first ever league goal too 👏

Despite some tired bodies, less than 24 hours later they were then back in action down in Peterborough to face the Phantoms.

Knowing they only needed to secure a win, the Stings were determined to carry the momentum from Saturday into this fixture.

The game allowed two more Stings players to earn their first league goals too! Kirsty Van Der Poll bagged her first and second league goals in that game, and Joseph Gill also found the back of the net against the Phantoms 👏

A 7-0 final score finished the Stings weekend on a high with everyone 'buzzing' for the upcoming Playoff Weekend next month 🙌
