I am pleased to announce I am now an approved fitting partner with the hoof boot shop. I will be providing a complete fitting service along with my regular Farriery services. Hoof boots will give me another tool in the box for providing the best hoof care possible.

Dear customer,
As of the 1st of August my prices will be increasing.
I've held off for as long as possible and tried to reduce my costs in other ways but it is no longer possible to do so.
The increase in cost will be £10 for shoeing and £5 for trims.
Thank you for your support and custom
Dan

🐴 Good news for all our equine clients!! 🐴
We are delighted to be able to offer a vaccine to help with the symptoms of the ever-frustrating Sweet Itch that many horses and ponies really suffer with. The vaccine was developed as a ringworm vaccine in Germany but it is now being used early in the year and seems to reduce the itchy symptoms in many equines. 🐎🐎
Sweet Itch is characterised as an allergic response to midge bites and saliva and can cause intense itching and skin irritation. Preventing insects from contacting the horse is very important but treatment in the past has often been difficult and unrewarding. Topical treatments such as sprays and creams may only partially help, and steroid use to calm the inflammation would carry side effects if used in the longer term. 🦟
The vaccine should be used early in the year before the midges have returned after winter. The course of vaccination is only two injections, separated by fourteen days, however it is not recommended for pregnant mares. The cost of the course is £125 and the normal visit fee will also apply, however the visit fee can be shared between multiple clients on the same yard. 🙂

Keeping all my horses fit, happy, healthy & sound is vitally important. A key component in their wellbeing is having regular farrier visits from a knowledgeable and experienced farrier.
Daniel Lowe is a huge part of my team. We've used Dan as our farrier for a number of years now. He works closely with me and my team to ensure that my horses are shod to an extremely high standard and keeps their feet in tip top condition, as well as putting back on any shoes that have been flung off in the field! 😇
I am very grateful for his help.

The British Horse Society is closely monitoring the Government’s advice regarding the Coronavirus outbreak. The situation is changing daily and as a result it is strongly advised that horse owners put together a care plan for their horse should you have to self-isolate or become ill.
The Government’s directive as of 20:30 on Monday, 23rd March is for everyone to stay at home unless travel is absolutely necessary.
Horse welfare is critical and grooms or the sole carer for a horse should travel to provide care for horses. Where horses are kept in livery the BHS advises that horse owners respect the protocol put in place by the yard owner or manager and work as a team to agree a care plan for your horse(s).
There are no specific government guidelines for the question around whether we should still be out riding at present. Our strong advice is that it is not appropriate to put unnecessary pressure on the emergency services now or for the foreseeable future. It is incumbent on all of us to make an individual decision as to whether riding is necessary at all, at this time. Decisions can only be taken based on individual circumstances but our choices should always be mindful of the potential impact for ourselves and others.
The health and welfare of your horse is your priority. If you have any concerns please contact your vet, yard manager or the BHS and we will do our best to assist you. You can contact us via telephone on 02476 840517 (calls may be recorded for monitoring purposes) or email us at [email protected].
