This one was for my Great Nanna Appleby π
Going into the Under 9s BiPHA Nationals yesterday, all I wanted was to score my first goal and dedicate it to my Great Nanna, who sadly passed away this week. β€οΈ
It turned into more than just a hockey day thoughβ¦ it became a full-on road trip with my daddy ππ¨
We travelled down to Sheffield on Friday night ready for an early 8:25am start at Skate Central, and what a day it turned out to be β non-stop hockey all the way through until 9:30pm (which was definitely way too long for a day of hockey π
).
Playing for the Devils, we battled hard all day and made it all the way to the 3rd place play-off πͺ
Unfortunately, during our game against the Ducks, our netminder became poorly. With the score at 1β1 and only 8 minutes left, and no spare goalie available (especially that late in the day), both teams agreed to finish the game as a draw β meaning we shared 3rd place π€π₯
Personally, it wasnβt my best start to the day. I was trying *too hard* to get that goal for my Great Nanna, and it just wasnβt coming. After our third game, my daddy told me to relax, let my hands flow, and focus on my game.
Next gameβ¦ it clicked π₯
I got my goal β€οΈ
After that, I started to find my feet and my hands, and just enjoyed playing the game I love π
Even though it was such a long day, I had **the best time** with my best mate Eden, and Iβve made some brilliant friends this season with the Devils team.
Thank you for having me β Iβll see you all at the rink very soon! π

π Why I Love Inline Hockey (and why more kids should try it!) π
Hi everyone π
I play inline hockey and I love it!
Itβs really fun, really fast, and you get to learn loads of cool skills while playing games with your friends π
I think more kids my age (under 8s) should try it because:
β
You learn how to skate and play
β
You get better really quickly
β
You make new friends
β
And itβs just really fun!
If youβve ever wanted to try hockey, this is a great place to start π

What a DAY today!!! ππ
I got to play with my Lion Cubs Under 12s team mates and my best hockey mate from Under 8s, Eden!! π
I scored at least one goal in every game and now Iβm on 76 points for the season!!! π―π₯
BUT the best thing was how we all played as a TEAM πͺ
We were the youngest team there today (average age 10 π²) but we competed in every single game!
We even went 1-0 up against the favourites from my snipe of a shot! ππ₯
We were only 1 goal down going into the 2nd periodβ¦ but with only 1 change our legs were soooo tired π
and we lost in the end β but it felt like a win because we made them work really hard!!!
Then we beat Trixtures β
AND got a draw against North Stars π€
That meant we played them again in the semi final π¬
We started slow and were 5-0 downβ¦ but our coach said treat it as a 0-0 game in the 2nd periodβ¦ AND WOW WE DID!!! π₯
We pulled it back to 5-4!!! π±π₯
They got a late goal so we didnβt make the finalβ¦ BUT we didnβt stop!!!
We went into the 3rd place game and gave EVERYTHING πͺ
We beat Trixtures again and won our FIRST CUP of the season!!! ππ₯³
So proud of my team today β€οΈ
We worked hard, played amazing, and had so much fun together!
Canβt wait to play with you all again next season in Under 12s and Under 14s!!! π

Had an absolutely amazing day at the Silky Mittz Skillz Training Session at the UKIHF Junior Rink in Market Drayton! ππ₯
6 hours on the rink⦠and honestly, it flew by because it was such a blast!
I got the chance to take part in loads of brilliant drills, all coached by Brian and his fantastic team.
The energy, the pace, and the quality of coaching was top level the whole way through π
It was also great to see some familiar faces and catch up with friends, as well as meet some new ones along the way π
It was a long day, but such an enjoyable one where I really got to work hard on my skills and pick up some new ones too.
One of my biggest takeaways from the session was protecting the puck along the boards. Iβve been working on this already, but Coach Brian showed me a brilliant way to improve it β focusing on quicker feet movement and using my body positioning properly to shield the puck and stop players getting near it πͺ
Definitely something Iβll be taking into gamesβ¦ especially with Under 12s Nationals this Saturday with Lions IHC Cubs! π¦π
Massive thank you to everyone involved β what a session π

π₯ Behind the Scenes β Coaching the Next Generation π¦β€οΈ
Last Monday I decided to stick the GoPro on during our Lions Cubs Skills Foundation session to capture a little bit of what we do each weekβ¦ and Iβm so glad I did π
One of the highlights for me was spending some 1-to-1 time with Noah. Heβs only 4 years old and has been with the Cubs for just 3 months, but the progress heβs made is unbelievable π€― His skating is coming on massively, and heβs really starting to get to grips with his stick handling too π
Heβs taken a real shine to me, and I absolutely love coaching him β this is what itβs all about β€οΈ
What makes it even more special is seeing how far Ellis has come. Heβs now helping and inspiring the next generation coming through the club, and as a parent and coach I couldnβt be prouder π
This video is just a 10-minute highlight of the session, but it shows exactly why we love what we do β building confidence, developing skills, and having loads of fun along the way π
π Also, if anyone would like to support Ellis on his journey, heβs been incredibly proud to be selected to play internationally this year:
π©πͺ Mooseheads β PAMA Cup (Germany)
πΊπΈ Desert Rats β NARCH Cup (USA)
playing across Under 8s and Under 10s π¦
Any support, no matter how small, would mean the world to help him take these amazing opportunities:
