We’ve reached another key milestone in building The People’s Network.
Bus operators have now been shortlisted to bid for services running from Olive Grove (Sheffield) and Leger Way (Doncaster) - the first areas moving to public control from September 2027.
Over the coming months, operators will submit detailed proposals on how they’ll run bus services day-to-day and the social value they’ll deliver for our communities.
Successful operators will be announced in early 2027.

Today sees the launch of The Pride of Yorkshire 🦁
From 8th June to 6th September, 150 sculptures of lions and lionesses, marking 150 years of Sheffield Children's Hospital NHS and Charity will be displayed across South Yorkshire, alongside 150 lion cubs designed by schools and community groups.
This major sculpture trail is helping to fund the redevelopment of the hospital’s Emergency Department, with every penny raised through sponsorship, and the final auction, set to be reinvested into the project. SYMCA has supported this work with a £24,000 contribution, sponsoring four lions, one in each local authority.
SYMCA’s four sponsored lions can be found at:
📍 Elsecar Park, Barnsley
📍 Doncaster Dome, Doncaster
📍 Clifton Park, Rotherham
📍 English Institute of Sport, Sheffield
