Match Report vs Bodicote
We started the game very poorly. From kick-off, within just two passes, we had given Bodicote an opportunity on goal, which they took well
After that opening minute, however, we grew into the game and started to create opportunities, particularly down the wings, with some good forward play.
Blake scored his first senior goal to bring us level. A move starting with our goalkeeper found our defender, who played a ball over the top of the Bodicote defence and released Blake, who finished calmly.
We were on top at this point, but a penalty following a corner gave Bodicote a 2-1 lead. Max made a smart save from the initial effort, but unfortunately couldn’t get to the rebound before it was tapped in.
Blake was once again released by a ball over the top, and with two shots and two goals, he brought us level again going into half-time.
At half-time, we made a formation change, However, we lost a man from a corner and a Bodicote player was able to head home to give them a 3-2 lead.
With just a minute left on the clock, we earned a corner. JP struck the ball brilliantly from the edge of the box and found the back of the net to seemingly bring us level again. Unfortunately, the referee blew his whistle and brought the goal back for a foul.
The referee then allowed play to restart while our captain was still speaking to him, leaving Bodicote with a 2v1 against our goalkeeper. They converted the chance to make it 4-2.
A frustrating end to a game where, despite a poor start, we showed plenty of character to fight our way back into it twice. There were plenty of positives to take, particularly the performance and finishing of Blake on for his brace, as well as the way the team responded after going behind.
