Founded in 1892, Sussex Yacht Club is one of the oldest and largest yacht clubs in the UK. Based in Shoreham-by-Sea on the River Adur, we’re home to a thriving community of sailors, rowers, divers, and watersports enthusiasts. Whether you’re new to the water or an experienced hand, SYC offers something for everyone — from RYA-accredited training courses and competitive racing, to cruising, rowing with Shoreham Outriggers, diving with BSAC, and social events year-round. Our clubhouse boasts stunning views of the river and coastline, with Stow’s Restaurant & Bar providing the perfect spot to relax after time on the water. With modern facilities, a welcoming atmosphere, and opportunities both ashore and afloat, SYC is more than just a yacht club — it’s a community.

We’re heading into the final stretch, with plenty still to look forward to at SYC.

🏆 Saturday 14 November: SYC Annual Prizegiving Dinner

When the sailing season starts to wind down, it’s the perfect time to sharpen your knowledge on dry land. 📚⛵

From First Aid at Sea and VHF Marine Radio to Day Skipper Theory, Coastal Skipper and Yachtmaster Theory, there’s plenty to keep your sailing skills moving forward throughout autumn and into the latter part of 2026.

Whether you’re building your knowledge, working towards your next qualification or simply want to feel more confident on the water, our classroom-based courses are a great way to spend those colder months.

⛵ Looking back at last year’s The Sussex Regatta , hosted here at SYC in 2025.

It was a great weekend of racing, with clubs from across Sussex coming together on the water and plenty happening back ashore too.

Now it’s time to do it all again! The 2026 Sussex Combined Clubs Regatta heads to Brighton Marina Yacht Club on 26th–27th September.

We’re looking forward to seeing the Sussex sailing community back together for another weekend of racing, competition and, hopefully, some good conditions. 🌊⛵

⛑️Could First Aid at Sea be one to tick off your list this year?⛑️

Our final RYA First Aid at Sea course of 2026 is taking place on Sunday 25th October.

It’s a practical and useful course covering how to respond to medical situations at sea, giving you skills and knowledge that could make a real difference when you’re out on the water.

The best part? Once completed, your RYA First Aid Certificate is valid for three years, so it’s something you can tick off and have covered for the seasons ahead.

If you’ve been meaning to get around to it, this is your final opportunity to do it this year!
