Severn Valley Circuit Races - DJPERRY A TAG IS AS GOOD AS A WINK

What a day we had on Saturday.

It was a perfect ☀️ day to bring racing back to Sundorne (the clue is in the name) - Shrewsbury Sports Village.

Thanks to everyone who took part from the British Cycling West Midlands clubs and beyond and those who helped make the event happen.

All getting quite exciting as a whole bunch of medals have arrived this morning ready to be made up for the youth podium finishers on 14th May.

Plenty of time and space to still get your entries in via the BC system.

Great to see some more faces joining last night's session at Sundorne Circuit, Shrewsbury Sports Village developing skills in some through and off chain gang, chasing down the breakaway, strength developing standing starts and bunch sprint finishes.

Entries are open for next week's session and right the way through to December.

There's a real mix of riders (both boys and girls) and a wide range of abilities being developed with plenty of space for more riders to attend.

Sessions start with a coach-led off bike warm-up at 6.50 with a 7pm start on the bike.

Events British Cycling

While there has been no circuit racing this season not that the track surface has been repaired there is some serious coaching going on ready for the return of racing next season.

Every Tuesday evening there is a British Cycling Pathway Development Centre for Circuit & Road racing.

Riders will benefit from input BC coaches on and off the bike to help develop their racecraft and ability

These sessions are primarily for riders competing as a Youth A or B in the 2021 season (and those moving up to Youth B in 2020), the sessions consist of progressive training exercises driven by challenging the physical and technical needs identified in the region.

Entry will close on the Monday before the session at 11.55pm. Spaces are limited.

Riders should treat the session like a two-hour road ride and be suitably equipped, 2 bottles, food, race cape, spare tube and a pump is the minimum. The session will run in all weather conditions other than snow so please bring suitable clothing.

Events British Cycling

With snow on the ground & everyone bubbled up at home this seems like another world away at the moment.

Let's hope we're able to get back to something like this in 2021.

British Cycling recently announced approved guidance to allow limited competitive cycling events to take place from August 1st however in current circumstances the organisers of the Severn Valley Circuit Series have agreed the best way forwards would be to prepare for the series to return in the spring of 2021.

We hope to catch up with familiar faces (and plenty of new ones) in 2021 and that everyone is using and enjoying their bikes for exercise and getting about in the meantime.

Current British Cycling information and guidance on getting the most out of cycling during the COVID-19 is below.

British Cycling Updated Coronavirus/Covid-19 Guidance Understandably and inevitably, the ongoing global uncertainty around the pandemic has led to plenty of questions and concerns.

Dates are out for the national circuit series.

British Cycling confirms the youth circuit and junior road series and championship dates for 2020 In confirming dates for next year, the governing body has widened the opportunities for boys and girls to race, with time trial champions set to be crowned as part of the Junior National Road Championships, over the weekend of July 18 and 19.
