It's a catch 22...
When we have more energy we actually want to cook and enjoy our food.
When we're exhausted, we can't think what to eat let alone be bothered to stand in the kitchen and cook anything.
Then we get to, the kids are off. You're going on holiday. Work is manic. And your nutrition just goes out the window…
Because, what's the point 🤷🏼♀️
Somewhere along the way we've convinced ourselves that eating well only counts when life is 'perfect!
Energy (aka food) underpins so much. Our motivation. Our food choices. Our movement. Our perimenopause symptoms. Our life. And so much more.
But as soon as life gets busy, as soon as we're exhausted, food just goes out of the window.
Often making ourselves feel worse for it.
And then there's the other problem. We classify food as 'good' or 'diet food' or 'bad', but only when we're thinking about our nutrition. All the times in between? Anything goes.
Neither extreme is actually helping us.
That's why I get my clients to work through my Imperfect Week method. We set the tone for your ‘perfect’ weeks and your hard weeks.
We have things in place for when life is busy, when there are meals out, holidays, running round after the kids.
Because life happens (and it’s important it does)!
How many days is life actually 'perfect?' And what does perfect even mean?
Getting to the gym 5 times a week? Not eating chocolate? If that's your version of perfect, maybe it's time to redefine what that actually looks like for you in a realistic way!
I made this lunch today. It took me about 6 minutes. I'm busy. I need energy.
And it packed me with everything I need so I'm not crashing at 3pm raiding the cupboard for chocolate or biscuits.
If you're struggling with energy and want some easy ways to eat in your busy lifestyle, come and join Every Day Energy.
I'll show you how to eat quick, easy, nourishing meals that fit around your real life. Not a diet. Just fuel that actually works.

I recorded a podcast for the first time in a while..
I always worry what to talk about. Will anyone even listen? Can I really be me?
But here we are, trying to get over that hurdle of confidence and self doubt. I can’t even bring myself to listen to it back 🫣😂
But, if you want a listen, here’s a link..
I’d love to know your thoughts if you have some time to listen.

This is what the last fortnight has looked like.
A 12 hour drive back from Scotland. Three days in the Peak District working DofE on 12 hour days. Home for a night. Down south to see family. Back to Cheltenham. Two trains home this morning. Oh, and somewhere in there.. a week's holiday (which I've completely forgotten about) 😂
I've hardly been to the gym, working away and holiday just hasn't allowed it. I would usually run whilst I'm away, but yeh, can't do that either!
And now my back has gone again and I'm back to living with chronic pain.
I could just say f**k it. But I've lived my journey long enough to know that this is just life (and a busy period) so I don't need to!
My consistency doesn't look the same every day, and it doesn't have to. Some weeks it's the gym five times, sometimes it's two.
These past two weeks it's been a daily walk and making sure I eat to give me energy for everything I'm doing. And the odd gym session on the days I can.
I meal prepped before I went away. I ate the same breakfast every day. I made lunch. And accepted some dinners weren't 'perfect' (whatever that means).. I had pizza one night and wraps the next. And there's nothing wrong with that!
Why does food always seem to be the first thing that goes out of the window when life gets busy?
It needs to be the last. We've been conditioned to think eating well only counts when everything is in control. But that's exactly when you need it most.
But I've felt refreshed every day when I've woken up (at 4:30am) ready to start work. I mean the pain doesn't account for that bit, but the energy is there! 😄
We go into a journey thinking it has to be perfect. And the minute it's not, and life happens, we think we've failed and say ‘I may as well give up’. But this IS life. Busy, messy, unpredictable life.
I've got one week at home before I'm back in my van for two weeks on DofE. No gym. So I'll walk every day. I'll prep what I can. I'll get to the gym in the windows I have.
Not perfect. Just consistent enough.
That's what Every Day Energy is built around.

I’m so impressed with myself. Well.. I think!
I’ve grown actual stuff in my veggie patch 😱
I say grown, things are happening, not that I’ve seen anything from it yet, so I’m hoping it’s more than these leaves to come..
Courgettes are growing like crazy, as are the tomatoes.
Spinach is starting to come through.
Carrots do not look like they’re going to work 🤷🏼♀️
There’s also some herbs planted - coriander, mint and basil.
And the strawberries look like they’re blooming. But again nothing to show other than leaves. I’ve left those in a pot, so if anyone has any tips if that’s ok, that would be appreciated.
And the chilli’s are keeping us very stocked up 😋
Not bad considering I’ve not been at home for the past 2 weeks 🫣
How’s everyone getting on with their veggies this year?

Can we be honest about something?
Women in midlife are not failing. They're being failed.
And when that happens enough times, a Facebook group or a viral post starts to feel like the only place that gets it.
I understand why.
But you deserve more than guesswork.
If you're ready to actually understand your energy and your body,
I'm giving away a free spot on Every Day Energy. Click the link to enter the giveaway 🥳

I’ve just spent the last 3 days on my first Duke of Edinburgh Bronze practice and assessment in the Peak District.
A few people have said to me lately, I’d make a great teacher… So I decided to give DofE a whirl.
And honestly? I was out of my comfort zone just as much as the kids were.
I wasn’t totally sure I'd be any good at it, that little voice asking ‘what if I can't do this?’ the same nerves I was watching them push through.
Turns out we were all growing this week, not just them.
What a great experience!
There's something special about watching kids grow over such a short space of time.
The groups I had, had never touched a map before, and seeing them grow and confidently navigate by day 3 and pass their assessment.. honestly amazing 🤩
I was also lucky enough to take JB along with me!
It reminded me why I do what I do. Whether it's teenagers with a map or women in midlife trying to find their energy again, growth happens when you do the thing that scares you, before you fully believe you can ❤️

I’m a bit quiet on here this week.. enjoying some time (and some days with zero signal) it’s been bliss!
We got lucky with the weather on a van trip up North.. you would think we’re in the Caribbean not Scotland 🏴
I can’t wait to share more about our little adventure!
