The search for exotic timbers goes on, this time I’m visiting the outskirts of the Peak District to source some lovely rare woods,
There’s nothing like actually seeing the timbers at hand,
There isn’t much Lee doesn’t have here. Just another day in the life of a cue builder. 😊

A bit of a change from standard ebony butt timber, these three custom ordered maple cues have recently been completed, and they have just been received safely by their new owner overseas.
It’s fair to say we were quite pleased with how these turned out.

After being asked quite a lot recently, We’re pleased to be able to offer the Triple Crown tips to our range in stock. We’ve got these in mixed variations to start with, and we have them in pressed and laminated styles. We also stock many more brands, please enquire if there’s a particular brand of tip you require as we may be able to source it.

A DHL delivery can only mean one thing, more exotic timber arriving from my good friend in Indonesia. Indian rosewood, teak burl and curly mango, I can’t wait to get these cut into cue splices.

We don’t need sunshine at Mastercraft Cues, we just plough on by moonlight, getting a few shafts cut for future cues, some nice ash and maple in here and this will now get rested for 2-3 years before we even start to take it down to an oversized taper. This is an important and often overlooked step in the cue building process, as there’s still a lot of stress in the timber at this point.

This cue was custom made to order, 1pc ash / ebony with 8 lower splices of tulipwood and amboyna burl, tipped with maple veneers, it is now living a new life in Hong Kong. Build time for something similar is usually around 6 - 10 weeks.

2 custom cues completed with matching mini butts collected today by their new owners. A custom emerald gem, and a variation of the same design, but swapping the exotic splices to Mexican rosewood with blue/ black veneers.

Chris's new cue !! well, how else do you celebrate our 20 year anniversary. But with an exceptional laminated maple shaft, 8 gorgeous thuya burl spliced butt, with matching shaft splices, and finished off with brass ferrule and ADR 147 laminated blue tip.
