🏏 Weekend Results 🏏

Here are the results from the games across the weekend!!

The 1st XI won against Oswestry CC 1st XI. The 1st XI travelled to Wem CC to play Oswestry in the last game of the season. After bowling Oswestry 1s out for just 39 runs, our 1st XI knew it was in their hands. Ashley Thomas bowled brilliant to claim 6-17 and was backed up by Callum Dovaston who took 4-22. The chase wasn’t a straight forward one with the 1s losing 5 wickets but Dax Hardman saw the team home with his 17* from just 9 balls hitting two fours back to back to seal the victory. With another result going their way on Saturday, our 1st XI finished 2nd in the league securing their promotion to the Shropshire Premier League. A brilliant result lads 🏏πŸ’ͺπŸ»πŸ‘πŸ».

The 2nd XI lost against Allscott Heath CC 2nd XI. The 2s had a tough day against a strong Allscott team who bowled the 2s out for 78 runs. Katrina Hannah topped scored with 15 runs from 27 balls. Allscott’s 2nd XI then chased the runs down for the loss of 4 wickets. Emily Day took 2-12 and Joe Furber on debut for the club bowled a wicket maiden in his first over in senior cricket. It’s been a really tough season for our 2nd XI who have been relegated from division 4. We know that they will come back stronger in the 2027 season πŸ™πŸ»πŸ.

And finally the 3rd XI lost to Oswestry CC 3rd XI. It was a tough day for our 3s who lost the toss and fielded first. Oswestry 3s finished their 40 overs for 235-4. Jon Elford took 2-32 with Nick Tiplady and Chris Preece each taking a wicket. Our 3s fought hard but were bowled out for 98 in 37 overs. Jon Elford top scored with 36 runs from 29 balls. Again, a tough season for our 3rd XI who are relegated from division 2. It’ll be a great opportunity to rebuild and have a better year in 2027.

Well done to everyone who played and represented the club over the weekend and throughout the season πŸ‘πŸ»πŸπŸ’ͺ🏻.

🏏 1ST XI FINISH 2ND! 🏏

The 1st XI travelled to Wem to play Oswestry knowing only a win would keep their hopes of finishing 2nd and promotion to the Premier Division alive.

After winning the toss, we bowled first and were outstanding from ball one, bowling Oswestry out for just 39. Ash Thomas led the way with 6-17, supported brilliantly by youngster Callum Dovaston (4-22).

The chase wasn't straightforward as Oswestry's Brandon Diplock took quick wickets, but Dax Hardman's unbeaten 17 saw us over the line at 5 down.

With the other result going our way, we finish the season 2nd in Division 1 and secure our place in the Premier Division for the first time since 2019!

What looked unlikely at the start of the day became reality.

🏏 Weekend Results 🏏

Here are the results from the games across the weekend!!

The 1st XI had a dominating victory over Shifnal 2nd XI. Winning the toss and electing to field the 1st team bowled the visitors out for just 51 runs. Ashley Thomas taking his best figures for the club, 7-25 from 11 overs. Callum Dovaston took 1-12 from his 5 overs and George Duncan took 2-12 from his 5 overs. The 1s then chased the required 52 runs in 6.5 overs for the loss of 2 wickets. Harry Bolland and Ben Reed seeing the team home with 10*(8) and 6*(14). Brilliant result for the team as they look to secure promotion πŸ’ͺπŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ.

The 2nd XI lost against Priorslee 1st XI. After winning the toss and electing to bat, the 2s completed their 40 overs 103-7 on a difficult wicket to bat on. Adam Vanner top scored with 42*. The 2s put up a good fight taking 8 wickets however Priorslee finished 104-8. Paul Bolland took 3-30 from 11 overs with Tom Davison taking 2-20 from 7 overs and Freya Hollis taking 2-15 from her 6 overs. A great fight by the 2nd XI who unfortunately didn’t get the result they needed πŸ™πŸ»πŸ.

And finally the 3rd XI lost to Wem CC 3rd XI. After losing the toss and being out in to bat, the 3s were bowled out in the final over for 133. Sam Smout top scored with 40(73) and Allan Stanton also scored 38(66). However it wasn’t quite enough as Wem 3rd XI chased the runs 5 down in 32.4 overs. James Malpass took 2-21, Chris Preece took 1-23 and Nick Tiplady took 1-32. A tough game for the 3s but with two games left, there is plenty to play for πŸ™πŸ»πŸπŸ‘πŸ».

Well done to everyone who played and represented the club over the weekend. We go again πŸ‘πŸ»πŸπŸ’ͺ🏻.
