Badgers have made a sett under my son's property - what can we do? Badgers have made their sett under my son's garage, digging out several tonnes of soil into his neighbour's garden. What should we do next?

We often get sent great feedback and comments from people who have read George's badger book and we appreciate them all and they are hearwarming to read, but this one we recently received is really delightful;

"I'm hoping that this email finds its way to George E. Pearce's family, because I want them to know how amazing I think Mr. Pearce's book is!

As soon as I started reading it resonated completely with my own philosophies and my own experiences. Without any knowledge of the author I was soon thinking, I must meet this person! Sadly, I learned that the author had since died, but it appears that his two children are continuing his legacy, which is fantastic to learn.

Every page of Mr. Pearce's book has been fascinating, and I have learned so much about badgers from his wisdom and experience. It really has felt like reading a book written by a kindred spirit. It's been a fantastic and engaging read and I wanted his family to know how much I have enjoyed it."

Urban badger bedding takes many forms, they have ripped this old cushion open.

Carrying on the legacy, What a wonderful badgery success story, and what 5 years difference makes. This is a new badger sett Tris built in 2016 and here it is in 2021. It was built owing to the required closure of a main sett due to a housing development and also the relocation of electrical services at the old sett location. In 2016 we built this new sett, it was in a fantasctic place where an old outlier sett existed and from week one, badgers were using it, in fact when monitored in 2017 and 2018 cubs had been born there.
In 2021 we decided to re-visit and the level of activity is just fantastic, green bedding going in and the polished areas around the sett indicate cubs are here. The elder trees are now used as scratching trees and badgers have excvated out the old outlier too, into a 7 entranced sett, annexing the new main sett. It is all as we had wished for and so pleasing to see enhanched mitigation for badgers. Tris Pearce runs training in badgers, surveying, mitigation and enhancement if you need to gain more knowledge

30 years ---------------- 1991 -2021-------------------------------
30 photos as memories.

We are celebrating 30 years since George set up as a badger consultant. back in 1991 he was still farming, building a wall when a call came in to help RSPCA exclude some badgers from a sett with these new badger licenses from MAFF (before English Nature and even before Natural England), so he went and that was a new careeer and business for him, Tris his son joined later and still keeps the buisness going with wife Charlotte. Here are some memories of 30 years as Badger Consultants....... how things were then....

RIP George Pearce and Chris Thomas # # #
