Transformation within. Release. I have reached one of those points in the long years of training where I can feel the way forward but have not yet achieved the required internal state of song - release to open the door. I can see the door. I can feel the door. The door is not bolted shut, I can see where it leads but so far have not crossed its threshold. Onwards. If this message means something to you please comment taiji friends.

Happy 50th anniversary to Wu Style Toronto. Wishing you wonderful celebrations and retreat for September When I walked through the door in 2008 certain that I wanted to study taiji I had no idea what expert tuition and martial spirit awaited me. Thank you to all the teachers students and to Sigung for sharing & spreading the excellence of Wu Style. Sad to miss the event but the universe didn’t align this time. With gratitude and the deepest respect, 🙏

Around 2012 I started to adapt the Wu Style walking to rehab gait issues. The slow precise mechanics are exceptionally good for helping folks begin to feel and realise how weight separation works, how to balance, how the hip drives the motion and what the different muscle chains are doing. The heel strike toe extension is especially useful in training lost strength in the anterior - forward muscles of the tibia - shin which control the vast amount of whole foot dorsi flexion- which extends the toes. Wu Style has a parallel foot forward backward stance which mimics normal gait. In taiji we know about yin yang separation and the power it can bring. This has helped a wide range of patients, from chronic joint issues, spinal problems, loss of motor / sensation in neurological cases and much more

Thanks to all the people following the page. I don’t post often….too busy with life and Taiji. I heard a quote recently that really meant something to me, “taijiquan is not about outer shape, it’s about inner state.”
A Mizner.
