🎾 TWTC 0 – Church Stretton 4
Qualifying such a result requires unabashed honesty: we were beaten by the better opposition.
We knew Church Stretton were strong, but that didn’t stop us going through that constant treasure hunt of conversation to find a solution. And at times, we discovered it — the tramline shot, the defence (or attack!) against that eccentric underarm serve, and the bravery of the deep lob.
Once you reach tie-breaks, luck, strong play and stoic defence all combine in an unpredictable roll of the dice. Both pairs fought on equal ground, but ultimately with unequal outcomes.
The success of any team isn’t measured simply by how you ride success, but by how you manage defeat — and we’ll return stronger because of this result. 💪🎾
Thankfully, the tea, marshalled magnificently by Ali, was another example of the splendiferous fayre that has adorned a TWTC home fixture! The opposition absolutely loved it, prompting Michael to suggest it was surely worth two rubbers…
Unfortunately, they didn’t like it quite that much! 😂
