And just like that… our season at Attingham Park comes to a close.

What a year. Honestly, from the bottom of our hearts - thank you. 🙏

This has been our busiest, brightest, most wonderful year ever. We are genuinely overwhelmed by how many of you came to share the river with us, the stories you told us, the laughter on the bank, and all the kind words you left behind. Every single booking, every smile, every photo sent in, it all meant the world to us.

But this isn’t goodbye, it’s just a little pause before something even bigger.

Here’s what’s happening next:

Shrewsbury to Ironbridge trips are running right through until Christmas - bookable on the website now, all autumn long. The river in the quieter months? Absolute magic.

The Severn Three-Day Voyage - we’ve been busy refining every detail and it’s shaping up to be something truly special. More news coming very soon…

An Ornithologist's Dream - The River Tern at Attingham Park.

This stretch of the River Tern isn't just beautiful, it's a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and one of Shropshire's most remarkable bird habitats.
Glide quietly along these waters and you'll see species that birders travel miles to find. Here's what makes this river so extraordinary:

Raptors - The River's Sky Masters
Barn Owl - Hunts the river meadows at dawn and dusk; ghostly pale, heart-shaped face, silent flight
Common Buzzard - Our most visible raptor; circles high above the river valley, mewing that familiar cry
Raven - Deep, croaking call echoes through the valley; the largest passerine in Britain, highly intelligent and family-oriented
Kestrel - Hovers motionless above the banks before dropping on its prey

Woodland & Riverbank Specialists
Kingfisher - They nest in riverbank burrows and fish from overhanging branches.
Green Woodpecker - Loud, laughing call carries across the valley
Great Spotted Woodpecker - Heard drumming on deadwood in early spring; striking black-and-white with red undertail
Treecreeper - Spirals up tree trunks, mouse-like, searching for insects in bark crevices
Nuthatch - Walks headfirst down tree trunks; blue-grey back, orangey underside, loud 'tuit-tuit' call

This is our 3rd to last day here at Attingham Park for the year.
We're open today until 4pm, so plenty of time yet to slip out for a paddle and soak up that river breeze before we wind down for the season.

Ever noticed how the river always feels cooler than the bank? That's because water evaporating from the surface actually cools the air right above it.. nature's very own air conditioning!

When you're out paddling, you're actually moving with the water - so you don't feel the current nearly as much as you do standing on the bank. It feels like you're gliding on glass, even when the river's flowing nicely underneath you.

This is one of our last weekends at Attingham Park and we’re here all day today and tomorrow.

10am to 4pm.

The River Severn is so special it actually runs backwards twice a day thanks to a natural phenomenon called the Severn Bore.. a wave that pushes all the way upriver from the sea! Pretty wild to think you're paddling the same river that does that, isn't it. 🚣‍♀️
