AHS Nationals & Crabbet Show 2026
I did not intend to go but then the unstoppable Anne Brown was getting a Lifetime Achievement Award & the lovely Claire Seaward was competing in the Crabbet Show. It was a crazy dash around other arrangements but so worth it.
Congratulations Anne for a lifetime of outstanding horses & dedication to the Arab Horse Society & well done Claire for getting the Crabbet high points award with Khruga & being part of the Crystal Romance family group. A great day 🌟

Lifetime Achievement Award!
The indefatigable Anne Brown of the Gadebrook Stud is being presented with a lifetime achievement award at lunchtime at the Arab Horse Society National Show on Saturday 18th July at Addington Equestrian Centre. Do go to show your appreciation of Anne’s years of dedication to breeding top sport Arabians alongside her years of service to the Arab Horse Society and the preservation of the Crabbet Arabian. Anne is one of a kind. See you there.
The photo is Anne with her beloved imported Australian mare Palma Benay & her c**t foal Gadebrook Blade.

Do you read studbooks? I used to enjoy discussing what Arabians were being bred in the UK Arab Horse Society's studbook, but there are not many of us who do such things anymore.
So where are we now? Vol 24 of the UK studbook covers foals of 2018 to 2021. A total of 1,052 foals are registered in its pages.
A total of 25 100% English mares had replacement foals. 20 of those mares are or were 100% Crabbet Stud bloodlines. They had a total of 31 foals registered (2.9% of total registrations), but those foals include 4 that are already deceased, 6 geldings and others of the 6 remaining c**ts may have been gelded since. There are 13 living fillies to the best of my knowledge.
The total of mares still of breeding age plus living, ungelded foals still in the UK, comes to 28, of which 24 are 100% Crabbet Stud bloodlines. Just 13 of the 24 100% Crabbets are also 100% GSB qualifying bloodlines (pre 1920 imports).
These numbers use the 2017 Crabbet Organisation definition of Crabbet Arabians, created in consultation with Rosemary Archer.

Thank you Tanya for the AHS magazine - so lovely to see the glorious Crabbet mare Magenta on the cover in honour of Barbara Campbell. Such an instantly recognisable mare. Stunning.
And lovely to see my own advert looking great & well positioned. Thank you 🤩
