๐Ÿšฒ๐ŸŽ‰ ยฃ250,000 PERMANENT PUMP TRACK PLANNED FOR BARROW PARK

An exciting new ยฃ250,000 permanent pump track is planned for Barrow Park โ€“ and local young people will have the chance to help shape its design!

Team Barrow will fund the purpose-built track, which will be free to use and located in an underused area of the park.

The track will be designed to be as inclusive and accessible as possible, with opportunities for cyclists, BMX riders, scooter riders and people using some adaptive equipment.

Westmorland and Furness Council is leading the project as part of its work to encourage people to stay fit and active.

๐Ÿšฒ BUILDING ON POPULAR POP-UP TRACKS

The investment follows the success of temporary pop-up pump tracks supported by Team Barrow in Barrow town centre, which proved popular over the summer.

Council Cabinet member Vicky Hughes said: โ€œWeโ€™ve seen just how popular pump tracks can be in communities that already have them. Even when weโ€™ve hosted temporary pop-up events locally, young people have been eager to take part, with queues forming throughout the day.

โ€œOne of the great benefits of creating a permanent track is that it can be designed specifically to make the best use of the space available. Weโ€™re keen to work closely with local young people to hear their ideas and help create a facility they can be proud of and enjoy for years to come.

โ€œWe often hear from young people that they would like more activities and places to spend time with their friends. This exciting project will provide a new opportunity right on their doorstep, and itโ€™s fantastic that they will have the chance to help shape the design from the very beginning through a co-design process with us.โ€

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ HELPING TO SHAPE THE DESIGN

A specialist supplier is expected to be appointed in spring 2027, with the final design developed alongside the local community.

The track is likely to include a mixture of straights, corners, banked turns, rollers, fly-outs and table features. It will be designed to fit into the existing park landscape.

Information about how people can get involved in the design will be shared as soon as possible.

Into Round 2 of the Cup โœ”๏ธ

The seagulls were back to winnings ways with a 3-0 dominant win against Carlisle Athletic!

In the first half, it seemed to be one of them games where it wasnโ€™t going our way with chances going to waste. However, Carlisle Athletic became the architect of their own downfall with a player being sin binned just before half time. This was the catalyst to our much improved second half performance!

Young Jackson Slack opened the scoring, with Bradley Williamson making it 2-0 soon after! More chances created, more frustrated Carlisle Athletic players! And a hell of a dodgy linesmen. But thatโ€™s didnโ€™t stop Liam Wilson Cars from making it 3-0! Happy Saturday ๐Ÿ˜„
