This weekend saw the first Board Competition of the 2026 season at Dean Wood Golf Club, the Doig Trophy. Alun Doig’s legacy continues to be celebrated at the club as it has since 1975. This years winner with 40 points was Ian Wilkie, a very well done to Ian for what was a fantastic round of golf.

It would also be remise not to mention a very special guest who attended the dinner in the evening with his wife Barbara, Mr Tony Davies, Captain of Captains for the Liverpool Society of Captains 2025-26.

A memorable attendance for Captain Mike Starkey. Mike would also like to thank Vice Captain David Hest and Past Captain Gerry Rawstorne who kindly donated their “winnings’ to the Captains Charity which is South Lancs MND
