Was a cracking game tonight in netherton, as we played our last 7v7 friendly, giving us a 2 week break! It was a back & forth match & we were the better side against a team a year older than us. We should of had a penalty right at the end that werent given & we were unlucky not to score more! Altho we lost the game, they gave it 100% & never gave up. We all left happy with their performance & more performances like that can only bring good results further down the line! 👍⚽️👏

Coach george man of the match - jason! A potential new signing for the team going forward. Had a trial game for us tonight & made a huge impression. Absolutely solid at the back, making runs with the ball glued to his feet! A good all rounder player that can play in several positions. An excellent 1st performance from him tonight. Well done 👍⚽️👏

Coach darren man of the match - Tom! A good performance from Tom today. Went through the wars at times with some strong tackles but kept on going. Showed what he can do when being brave on the ball creating chances and bringing the team forward. Just needs to understand when to release the ball for the right pass, which will come over time, but overall a good performance!👌💪⚽️

Took skem youth u9s to a 6v6 tournament in manchester today! Half the team couldnt make it, so i called in 1 or 2 favours so the kids get to have this treat off myself & darren & they get to experience travelling to manchester for it! Their was really good, hard competition, as it was an open level ability tournament for the kids to test themselves & they did better than I expected them to! Apart from bad officiating, as you can see in 1 of the pictures. A player from the other team studded one of my players & the ref continued to play on, which that player then scored from, costing us the game & progression into the semi final, as we came short in the quater finals losing 2-1! But the team gave it their all in the quater finals, battled hard & gave it 100% which im proud of! Representing our neck of the woods, travelling a far as the other teams were local! As outsiders, we put up a fair fight & i couldnt be more happy for this group of players today! 👍⚽️👏💪

Good training session tonight as always, as it marks the last training session until 20th august, with us having a 7v7 friendly next weds in netherton!

Coach georges trainer of the week - bud! Everyone did brilliant in training tonight but tonight it went to bud! He was excellent in all the drills, the communication from him over the last few weeks have been brilliant & has shown some leadership within the team! Also from his outstanding non stop performance on sunday, running himself into the ground! Hes taking the game seriously & its shown over the last few weeks how much it means to him! 👍👏⚽️

Coach darrens trainer of the week -George! A brilliant training session from George this week along with a good match on Sunday. George always gives 110% in the drills and never gives up. A great team player and starting to use his voice more. Well done George 👌👍⚽️

A game of 2 halves today! Started slow in the 1st half, trying to find our feet! Even tho we went 1-0 up, Real Marine didnt give up & just kept coming at us & getting their just rewards for it as we went into half time 4-1 down! 2nd half was a completely different story. We were more on top, more alert, more on the ball! It was 1-1 in the 2nd half and well deserved. A cracking solo goal by george, taking players on to then score from long range! Isaac ran himself into the ground going from box to box in midfield. Brook controlling the defence more & gaining more confidence at the back. Jaxon stamping his authority more in goal & coming out to collect the ball more. Everyone had a part to play, mostly in the 2nd half! 👍👏⚽️

Coach george player of the match - teddy! Teddy has been coming to training for us the last few weeks & was his 1st ever match today! He was absolutely brilliant, putting his body on the line for everything in defence. He has made a telling argument today in being a part of this team going forward, surprisingly everyone with how well he played! 👏⚽️

Coach darren player of the match - violet! A great effort from Violet on her debut. Our latest signing at Skem Youth, she showed incredible attitude in her first game and is really up for testing herself by joining our Boys. Time will show how much she will help this team. Well done Violet 💪👍⚽️

Coach george trainer of the week - theo! Good on the drills at training. Passing more frequently & using his voice more. Calling for the ball, putting someone's name on the pass. These are all things Theo is bringing to the table more & more each week & hes getting to understand it alot easier! Well done Theo 👏⚽️

Coach darren trainer of the week - Brook! Brook has shown great improvement in the last few weeks. He's showing his authority in the back line and taking control of certain situations. Getting more confident in every area which is great to see. His training drills and attitude to his football is very applaudable. Well done Brook, keep up the hard work 💪👌⚽️

Last game of the summer league today & to be fair its a summer league to forget. Another defeat today, all be it we did play a top division team who played us off the park with their experience. Our kids played some good football at times that related in good passing play that lead to our 2 goals. Still need to learn & be reminded of the main concepts within a match, communication, getting into space & not being under each other's feet & to have control of the ball. We did have some good spells in the match, but the experience of crosby stuart was the difference maker! Losing isnt necessarily a bad thing, as kids learn from a defeat more than a win does! Altho its not been a good couple of weeks, I am still proud of this team of what they've accomplished sofar since january! With 2 new signings yet to come, they can only get better!

Coach george man of the match - george! Has lost abit of confidence the last few weeks but was more back to himself today. Good passing play & finding the right pass to his team mates. Up against crosbys best player on the wing & stayed strong! Having the confidence to take players on himself & was unlucky not to score! Glad to see him back playing how we know he can play! 👍👏⚽️

Coach darren man of the match - Theo! Theo - Worked hard today running around the pitch trying to make things happen. When receiving the ball he was brave in attempting to take on players. Unlucky not to score. Good efforts Theo 👍⚽️

Coach george trainer of the week - jaxon! Aka 'mr safe hands!' Back to training tonight and hasnt missed a beat! More shouting coming from him tonight inbetween the posts & shown more passion about his game which weve been getting more out of him lately. Learning new drills in goal keeper training & putting it to the test in the match at the end. He even had a go playing outfield, which is rare to see from him & handled himself well! Well done jaxon 👍👏⚽️

Coach darren trainer of the week - Jayden! Has settled really well into the team as the latest edition to Skem Youth. He is fully focussed at all times and is a great lad to coach. Listens to all instructions and plays with a smile on his face. Great tackler of the ball in his defensive work and done excellent on the passing/dribbling and movement drills. Well done Jayden 👍💪⚽️

A much better performance today specially in that heat, despite the result which il get to! A good 1st half & good start to the 2nd half which saw us at 2-2 by that point. But it was the last 10 minutes that let us down that was the difference. Tiredness & fatigue played a huge part, not to mention ormskirk west end stepped it up a gear & fair play to them. But we come away from it with positives, with much more passing & being brave attempting to take on players alot more. A cracking thunderous goal from bud & a great solo goal from louie. Not to mention a few good saves from our goal keeper jaxon & made possibly 1 of the best saves iv seen for a goal keeper of his height! But the more experience from ormskirk west end was the difference maker today, specially the last 10 minutes. But it was still a good, strong performance from skem youth, battling in tough conditions today! 💪👏⚽️

Coach george man of the match - bud! Didn't stop all game & played his best match by far. Making tackles, good passes & working up & down the pitch from start to finish. Got his just reward by scoring a thunderbolt of a goal! Good, positive attitute through out! Keep up the good work bud 👏⚽️👍💪

Coach darren man of the match - TOM - Thoroughly deserved his medal today. Gave an absolute belting performance in this heat and put into action what we've been working on (No passing back and being brave on the ball to take on opponents). Every opportunity today, he showed that Tom is focussed and has been listening on areas to improve his game. Well done Tom 💪👍⚽️✨️

Coach george trainer of the week - tom! Didnt see much of the drills tom was in tonight, as I was working on defencive drills with others. But just watching him in the match at the end, he played as if he owned that pitch! Precise passing, always demanding for the ball at the right times. Having that confidence to take the ball forwards more now & taking players on. Love his passion for the game & always plays with a smile on his face 👍👏

Coach darren trainer of the week - George! -Great to have George back in the team after his deserved break away. He was very focussed into tonights training session when we was working on attacking fundimentals to our team creating more chances and attacking from the back. He understands what needs to be done and knows what to work on going forward. Always puts himself forward and shows great desire in everything we do. Keep up the good work George. Well Done 💪👌⚽️✨️
