The 1s take maximum points in a rain affected game at Alne, whilst the 2s fall agonisingly close for a second week in a row.

The 1s travelled to Alne knowing that the weather was likely to be an additional factor they would have to contend with. On a day when winning the toss and bowling first would have been at the forefront of every captain’s mind, the Rams unfortunately lost the toss and were asked to bat first on a green seamer.

The ever-reliable Rap got us off to a solid start, making his way into the 20s before an unplayable delivery found the top of his off stump. Enter run-machine Malcolm, who got to work alongside skipper Cal, and the pair never looked back.

Damo notched up his 6th 💯 of the season in typical fashion, while Cal also passed 50 as the pair put the Rams in a commanding position. Both finished unbeaten before the rain eventually arrived at the 36-over mark, bringing the innings to an early close.

With the radar looking increasingly promising, the Rams turned their attention to the five bowling points and got off to a near-perfect start.

The ever-reliable opening pair of Cal Egg and Tom Baines ripped through the Alne top order, leaving the hosts reeling at 15-4. Cal Egg then produced his spell of the season, bowling with near-perfect accuracy to finish with career-best figures of 6-15.

Young Frank Binns also picked up another first-team wicket as the young Rams side wrapped up a convincing victory inside 17 overs.

The 2s hosted Stainley, another First Team side battling towards the top end of Div 3.

The innings got off to the worst possible start, with captain Whitfield and U15 Josh Greene both falling in the opening few overs to leave the Rams sitting at 0-2.

Up stepped Martin Chisnall, returning to the side after a few months out with injury. The run-machine from last season showed exactly why the 2s have missed him this year, anchoring the innings superbly and finishing unbeaten on 62*.

A devastating opening spell saw Callum Eggleton produce career-best figures of 6️⃣ for 1️⃣5️⃣, including his first senior five-wicket haul.

Damo also produced another break taking 💯 to take his season tally over 1,400. 🐐

First win on the board for Upper Wharfedale CC Women!💚

Upper Wharfedale CC Women celebrated their first victory of the season on Wednesday evening with an excellent team performance against Barnoldswick CC Women.

Barnoldswick batted first and posted a competitive 266. In reply, ‘The Ewes’ produced their strongest batting display of the season, finishing on 302 to secure a deserved win.

The innings was built on contributions throughout, with Gail top-scoring with 15, Hannah and Jenny contributing 10 apiece, and Rachel chipping in with 16. Crucially, every batting pair played their part, helping the team steadily increase the total over the course of the innings.
The difference ultimately came from Upper Wharfedale’s consistency with the bat and a disciplined bowling and fielding performance that limited Barnoldswick’s scoring opportunities.

A fantastic all-round effort from the team, showing the progress being made in just the third fixture of the season and earning a well-deserved first win.

👏 Well done to everyone involved and thank you to Barnoldswick CC Women for a competitive and enjoyable match.
