Calling all Malhamdalers - it’s time to bring your light out from under the table! Do you dabble in paint? Do you make the odd sketch, or write a few words of verse now and then? Perhaps you’re a keen photographer? Whether you’re a seasoned exhibitor or have never shown anything to anyone, ‘Art in the grass!’ is a chance to do so in a relaxed way to a friendly local audience.
On 17th July, we’ll be setting up contributors’ work around the edge of the grounds at Airton Meeting House and inviting the public to view. (If the weather is poor, we’ll use the Meeting House.) All that’s needed is a piece of work you’re happy for people to see and if possible an easel – but don’t let that put you off as we have some spare. No experience is necessary and contributions from all ages are welcome.
If you’d prefer just to come and appreciate the work, then drop in on the day between 11am and 4pm. Entrance on the day is £2 for adults and free to children.
So don’t be shy – show the world your talent! Get in touch via [email protected] to take part.

Looking forward to playing this recital this coming Saturday. To be compliant with Stage 3 restrictions, the venue will be at 50% capacity so reserving a place in advance is essential. I hope the music will lift the audience as much as it has me while preparing it.

Some jottings on the precarious character of the human-nature dance in the latest blog on our website...
Walking our own transformation A walk in this part of the world is a reminder of two apparently contradictory things: the extraordinary impact of human society in the spaces it occupies and the fragile thinness of the landscapes…
In line with the lockdown regulations we will be opening the Meeting House for private prayer only on Sunday afternoons between 2 and 4 during the present lockdown. We ask that no more than 2 people are present in the building at any one time and that all users apply hand sanitiser and wear a face covering.
he new lockdown means that for the time being, Airton Barn is not accepting bookings for overnight accommodation. We hope to re-open the bunkhouse again early in the new year.
We're officially 'Good to Go' for limited overnight accommodation. See https://airtonbarn.org.uk/news/ for details, including Our Covid Plan to keep our guests and everyone else safe.

We're thrilled to announce the upgrading of the listing status of Airton Meeting House to Grade II*. Heritage England's report completed May 2020 concluded that 'that the building is of more than special interest in the national context and fully merits an upgrade to Grade II*'.
