Chris Nico- Novice 13th Place
This was a great performance from Nico for our 3rd comp of the year, and even more enjoyable being on home turf!
Event 1- Axle FTOH- 90kg x4 reps
Event 2- 250kg Yoke- 20m in 15.58 secs
Event 3- 18” Deadlift- 290kg
Event 4- Dinnie Walk 80/90kg- 12.6m
Event 5- Atlas Stones- 60/80/100/120kg in 17.26 seconds, very narrowly missing the 140kg stone.
Good performances in all events in a very stacked and competitive category. Back to back preps isn’t easy, but Chris managed to keep it together and do himself proud.
Now onto a bit of an offseason period!
If everyone in the competition is using PEDs, then the person that wins will still be the person who has the best genetics, works hard and puts in enough time. While some people will use the drugs very poorly (and put their health at major risk), if everyone has access to them, it’s no longer an advantage over other athletes.
And if you use drugs with the intention of beating people not on drugs, you’re a fu***ng loser. If you’re going to take them, at least go against other people taking them.
I think the decision to use performance enhancing drugs (PEDs) is a personal choice, and I have no ethical issue with it.

Open Bodybuilding Middleweights- 5th out of 5
Another great show ticked off. Stepped on stage as a middleweight for my open bodybuilding debut. Unsurprisingly, being at the lighter end of the weight category meant I was up against some bigger competitors. Despite this, I loved being in the mix with a high standard of competition, and they all thoroughly deserved their placings.
To say I put on 6/7kg of muscle since my last season and was too heavy for my previous category is the biggest highlight of my experience- undeniable progress.
One more show to go, jobs not done.
Offseason. Training 4 times a week. Trying to build size and strength.
But eating low-carb because it’s “healthier.”
Sessions feel flat. Not recovering. Not growing. Can’t work out why.
The diet content you’re watching wasn’t made for you. It was made for people who don’t train much and want to lose weight. The fuel requirements for a contact sport athlete in a strength block are completely different.
Hard training day — more carbs, around the session. Recovery day — a bit less. Protein consistent every day.
That’s the framework.

Client Result- Ruby
Alongside her dance comps, netball games and exams, Ruby has had some great success with her cheerleading squad.
This past weekend her team secured 3rd place at the British Cheerleading Associations Nationals!
Back to back weekends of comps has had her and her family very busy at weekends, but it is paying off with some great performances.
Well done Ruby!

Too many athletes treat the offseason like a holiday… then spend half of preseason trying to rebuild what they lost.
Speed drops.
Power fades.
Conditioning tanks.
And suddenly your “8-week offseason” becomes 4 weeks of catching back up.
The best athletes don’t disappear in the offseason.
They manage fatigue, keep key qualities ticking over, and build momentum for next season.
A back-off period? Smart.
Completely switching off? Expensive.
If you want to come back fitter, faster, stronger — not starting from scratch — now’s the time to plan properly.
DM me “COACH” to get started.
PSA for training in the heat!
The word functional gets banded round a lot online, and it has developed a bad reputation.
But that’s just because people misuse it to try and either sell you their programs using buzzwords or bash other training methods.
Functional training is not a single thing or method, functional simply means that it prepares you for the specific task you’re training for.

Client Result-
A great weekend at Silverstone for Rhys this past weekend. Some challenging conditions and a busy grid make for an eventful race day.
With very little splitting positions, his 21st place was only 1.5 seconds off of 10th. Very narrow margins to contend with.
His debut season has been going very well so far, with plenty more to do to keep the progress going!
