Lincs Vets cruise to victory …..
Lincolnshire 9 England 2

You may at first glance think that the game was a walk in the park but in the early stages of the game it was far from that Indeed the Home side needed the experience of the likes of Terrys Smith to calm down a hectic start and to let the Yellow Bellies take a breath and start to play and once they’d done that it was only a matter of time before Roy Gladwell hit the first of his three goal tally for the day indeed before the day was out “The professor” had taken goal 5 of the teams tally and the 7th For his own Not to be outdone his local teammate Tony Drinkell who pound for pound is one of the best if not the best footballers for his age in the county scored number 2, 6 and 8 and to ensure he got a lift back John Daly helped himself to numbers 3 4 and 9 Great to see the 3 man punch up over who got the match ball at the end
That said so many people played so well This was the first time Id had the pleasure of watching Dave Winslow, brilliant at the back alongside Tony Laughton Ian Porter Tripps Mason and Barry Rainer If you’d watched the game it was hard to believe the back line had never played together before These lads were aided and abetted by Trevor Lee whom Id seen play for the North East over 70 at Birmingham and Trevor was just as superb yesterday as he was then Len Davidson out of position perhaps from his preferred option but never the less did not put a foot wrong Brain Keates magnificent at 79 Craig Abbiss just improves with every game and finally Chris Bradford who was himself unlucky not to be on the scoresheet That leaves me with the two keepers who were both superb on the day

Half-time 6.0 to the yellow bellies and at the end 9.2 Great win but the manner of the win was what was most impressive

SYKES.. Long, short, narrow, wide it doesn’t matter what size/shape of goal if Johns in you aren’t scoring the man is a legend
PORTER As mentioned above just solid and dependable the whole game
WINSLOW What a find swept up every danger
DRINKELL Not enough words to describe the talent of this man
MASON From my own club, a hero to me and many others superb left back in the day, is now and will be in the days to come
MOLLOY I’m in awe of this man’s ability given his age he is superb captained the side to victory
LEE Trevor played like a demon in his youth and he’s still doing it
LAUGHTON Great find, timing is flawless
SMITH I use to watch TS play for Sleaford Town back in the day and I’m honored to still be watching him now he’s a footballing God to me
GLADWELL What can you say a man who take his off-pitch enthusiasm onto it he said he’d score three and did
KEATES 79 ??? What do you want me to say he is just a class act especially when he was at the gym at 7AM that morning?
BRADFORD One of my NPL Pals Chris is as fit as a butcher’s dog what a difference when he came on unlucky not to be on the scoresheet on more than one occasion
ABBISS Newcomer to Vets football Craig showed he’s finding his feet more and more with every adventure
DALY I’ve said before John is a character who lifts the dressing room boosts the team and plays with his heart on his sleeve Having won his battle with throat cancer recently theres nothing I don’t love about this man
REEVE Great turn in the sticks went in as team tired but made some great saves
DAVIDSON Distribution quality tackling quality positioning quality if you’re looking for a word to describe Len Quality fits
RAINER Played at the back with the other lads like he’d played with them all his life
MORGON NOT USED

MAN OF THE MATCH ROY GLADWELL

MANAGEMENT TEAM OF BEARD AND MCCAFFERTY CALLED IN TO HQ THIS MORNING TO EXPLAIN GRAVE ERROR IN YESTERDAYS GAME PLAN

In the ever-difficult search for Goal scoring perfection you may find it harsh when I explain that the management team from yesterday’s game were called into HQ this morning to explain their deviation from the pre-agreed goal scoring game plan for yesterday’s match.

The following statement was issued this morning by the board
“Mr. McCafferty and Mr. Beard were asked to attend HQ this morning to explain the tactical changes they implemented without the board’s knowledge or consent
namely
It had been agreed that the sequence of goal scoring was to be
Gladwell, Drinkell and then Daly repeated at least three times when in fact Daly scored the 3rd and 4th throwing the whole game plan out the window Goals 123 and 789 were correct but 456 were not in the order agreed. There is no point in us going to the levels of training that we do if random acts of gameplay are thrown in putting the whole score line in jeopardy

As a result, the two managers have been fined $5000 and warned if this happens again, they will be demoted to be in charge of the duff old over 50 team

As a result , One goal will be removed from the records of Gladwell, Drinkell and Daly and due to the fact he never even got selected attributed to Steve Morgon who is now by default the over 70 Top scorer with 3

There is no appeal 😊

Well done, Steve
