Earlier this week, the RAFSA Open Water Polo team played an invitational match against the Fire Service at Ponds Forge. Against a Fire Service Team with multiple ex-internationals, the RAF fought hard with a final score of 16-11 to the Fire Service.

The RAF Diving team took part in the GBDF Spring Masters Championships last weekend!
Overall the team had a fantastic competition securing 2 Golds 🥇, 1 Silver 🥈, and 2 Bronze 🥉, medals as well as multiple new individual PBs and several new successful dives.
Huge congratulations to all that competed and a massive thank you to Maltby Diving Club and GBDF for your continued support 🇬🇧

In the midst of the Aquatics GB Championships last week, one of our own swimmers, Cpl Booth was making waves in the records books!
A new Welsh record in the 50m Breastroke was set by Cpl Booth.
The heats saw Cpl Booth in Heat 12 ploughing through to the A final against some formidable competition against the likes of eventual race winner Adam Ramsay-Peaty to finish 5th in Great Britain and 1st ever in Wales.🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Incredible performance- we’re all proud of you, Kyle! 🇬🇧

On the 30th of March 1926, at the RAF sports boards third meeting, the minutes show the first ever mention of an RAF Swimming association, the modern day RAFSA.
Today therefore is the 100th anniversary of RAFSA!
Happy 100th anniversary to us! Heres to the future!
Welcome to RAFSA 100!

A message from the Chair, Sqn Ldr Trev Down,

Happy New Year everyone. Hope you had a good one?

The RAFSA Centenary Year has arrived and we are looking forward to marking it in style with various events and memorabilia – you are already hopefully tracking the plans via Yasmin’s emails – please let us know if you are not on her mailing list and we will get you added. The first event is planned for Fri 27 Mar at RAF Cranwell, with an informal meet and greet with the current RAFSA Squad and a Q&A session with leading athletes from across GB Aquatics, before the competitive elements kick-start with a Swim Champs vs the French and German Air Forces in May. Unfortunately we cannot provide overnight accommodation at Cranwell but we still hope to see you there – Yas will send out details of how to register to attend in the next few weeks.

Please pass this around any ex-RAFSA members!

Hopefully we will catch up at one of the RAFSA centenary events. Thanks

At the RAF Sports awards 2025, Sqn Ldr Trev Down recieved a lifetime achievement award. Having represented RAFSA every year since 1985, a staggering 40 years! Trev began swimming for the RAF winning his first Gold in 1985 in the 200m Freestyle, swimming the English Channel in 1992 and converting to Waterpolo and getting his favourite RAFSA Memory of winning the IS Championships in 2023. Still competing in 2025 as a Stalwart Centre forward for the Waterpolo team, Trevs presence is always known even getting a few goals away still! Outside of the pool Trev has taken on leadership roles in RAFSA as our former Vice chair and current RAFSA chairman. We look forward to Trev leading us into 2026 for our 100th Anniversary as an association with some big events in the pipeline!

Congratulations Sqn Ldr Down!
