The 1st XI returned to winning ways with a 10-wicket win at Grimsby Town, while the Sunday 2nd XI produced a dominant display to beat Blankney by 88 runs .

There was also success for the 2nd XI in the Bob Welton Cup, beating Cherry Willingham by five wickets, before their run came to a frustrating end after the final game against Bracebridge Heath was abandoned in the rain.

Standout contributions came from Matthew Mills (69* and 4 for 19), Mason Mansfield (50*), Charlie Roberts (54 and 43), Harry Bailey (47 and 36), Max Lorimer (5 for 21) and Mackenzie Ross (4 for 8).

Plenty to look forward to next weekend, with the 1st XI travelling to Spalding, the 2nd XI hosting Market Deeping, the Sunday 2nd XI taking on Harlaxton in the Mike Savage Cup, and the Womenโ€™s 1st XI at home to Spondon & Eastwood.

And thereโ€™s more to come on Bank Holiday Monday as Sleaford host Winkworth Cup Finals Day, with the 1st XI facing Bracebridge in the first semi-final for a place in the final against either Grimsby or Woodhall Spa.
Get down and back the teams next weekend โ€” weโ€™d love to see plenty of support around the ground!

๐‘๐ž๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ญ๐ฌ | 9th-10th May

It was one of those weekends for Sleaford Cricket Club, as all four sides took to the field full of optimismโ€ฆ and left it somewhere around drinks. Despite plenty of effort, the results column was less forgiving.

On Saturday, the 1st XI found themselves on the wrong end of a 57 run defeat away at Bracebridge Heath in the Premier Division. Bracebridge posted 227, with Andy Hibberd (4-29) doing his best to keep things respectable. Sleafordโ€™s reply never quite caught fire, despite runs from Matthew Wing and Mackenzie Ross, as the hostsโ€™ bowlers applied the squeeze.

Things were equally tough for the 2nd XI back at Sleaford, where Newborough CC produced a batting masterclass in the Championship South. A total of 340 proved rather more than a testing chase, and while Arthur Brearley Newsome and Dan Hutson top scored with 25 apiece, the inevitable arrived about 181 runs short of the target.

Sunday didnโ€™t bring much respite, with the 1st XI exiting the ECB National Club Championship following a seven wicket defeat away at Ockbrook & Borrowash. Matthew Mills carried the bat superbly with 66 out of 101, but the home side wasted little time in overhauling the total, chasing it down with ease.

The Sunday 1st XI completed the set at home to Ancaster in the Lincoln & District Premier League. Ancaster piled on 253, helped by a century from Will Harris, before bowling Sleaford out for 106.

So yes - four games, four defeats but a new weekend approaches for the Sheep.

๐‘๐ž๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ญ๐ฌ | 2nd - 4th May

Sleafordโ€™s first XI continued their encouraging start to the new Lincolnshire Premier League Premier Division season with a well-judged six wicket victory over Burghley Park on Saturday, founded on discipline with the ball and a calmly negotiated chase of 211.

Burghley were dismissed for 210 in the 47th over, having struggled to maintain momentum. Ryan Gilmour made a careful 57, with Olly Billington (41) and Michael Hobbiss (34) offering support, but Sleaford kept a firm grip on proceedings. Andy Hibberd led the attack with figures of 3-31, while Mason Mansfield and Drew Harbron both chipped in with two wickets as pressure was applied throughout.

The reply was set up by Sean Solia, whose fluent 52 from 48 balls ensured Sleaford were always in control. George Woods played a measured innings of 49 not out sharing a partnership of 96 with Andy Hibberd (35 not out), who saw the side home at 212-4 with overs to spare.

It was a harder day in the Championship South for the second XI at Skegness, where early and regular wickets led to a total of 84. Charlie Roberts top-scored with 16, but partnerships proved elusive as Skegness won by five wickets.

Sunday brought more positive returns.

The first XI made 215-4 against Lindum, anchored by Olly Sneathโ€™s first century for the club, a well-constructed 111 from 128 balls. The Sunday second XI completed a convincing 78-run win over Horncastle, Ben Glendinningโ€™s 94 and George Bulmerโ€™s 4-24 decisive.

Sleaford made quietly emphatic progress in the T20 Winkworth Cup on a blustery Bank Holiday Monday moving onto Finals Day at Sleaford on May 25th
