Buoys placed at the side of the Jubilee River can save lives - but not if they have been vandalised.
Patrols along the riverside yesterday as temperatures soared revealed some of the buoys had been tampered with and some had been removed and thrown into bushes.
This includes the buoy placed on the bridge where 20-year-old Michael Scaife died. Next to the buoy is a plaque dedicated to the Langley young man who died of cold water shock on a hot day like this.
These simple devices have the ability to keep someone in trouble in the river alive.
The weather is set to remain hot this week.
The water is freezing and can kill the first time someone jumps in.
We are still only open to schools and community groups until further notice.
SWIPE the charity that runs the Jubilee Riverside Centre is providing volunteer operations management for all the vaccination centres and lateral flow test sites in Slough.
We may take longer here to return to normal than other sites while we work on getting the rest of our town back to normal.
Please come back and see us when we are back!
In the meantime staysafe everyone!
As you know these are difficult times, we have been running a limited service only to community groups.
If you have been wondering what our staff have been doing the rest of the time Jamie, Ed, Murray, and Neil are all now volunteers at Salt Hill Vaccination Centre!
