It is with sad regret that Diamond softball has made the decision to not run our events this year.
After hearing the shock news that BSF were taking NSL from us so they can run a stand alone tournament, this has changed the whole set up of our events.
Hosting NSL also gives us, and other events a slightly better rate for the fields as it was a National comp.
We have tried to negotiate a better deal but to no avail, and as minimal grass pitches are available this year we would have to substantially increase our teams entry fees to cover costs.
Last year was tough for both us and teams as we felt we weren’t able to deliver our usual Diamond standards that we had previously with the greatest atmosphere and of course the best prizes on offer!
Diamond softball have always wanted to offer value for money but also help grass roots of the sport build.
In the 15 years Diamond has been running, growing the event from 32 to 58 teams we have seen C grade teams come through who are now playing NSL level and this is what we have always wanted to accomplish.
It now seems with NSL3 being introduced this year this is pushing C grade teams away as there isn’t enough space for all the teams we have had at events to continue to play at this level.
We would like to take this opportunity thank all the teams, umpires, family and friends that have supported us from day one!We have some amazing friends and we have loved bringing softball to Farnham Park, the plain park venue that we found at the beginning and now seeing the level of the sport that is being achieved there!
We are hoping this isn’t a final good bye but just a break until we are able to facilitate the size and standard of Diamond softball events we have all grown to love!
Once again thanks for the support from your diamond team

We are extremely saddened to have to announce that we lost one of our own this week. Duncan McLean passed away. He was a pillar of the WMSL softball community. He played for the Wildcats from their first game over 25 years ago and was playing at the WMSL Last Ball event two weeks ago.
For the older players in the softball community we remember him, not only as a player, but as an extremely good umpire who officiated at the highest European level. For many of us, me included, he was the instructor on our first BASU Umpiring course. He was a walking rule book. Every time there was a query about something it was "Ask Duncan, he'll know".
He has always been there for most of us, his dry sarcastic wit a feature of every game he played and every social gathering, his infectious laugh always gave away where he was.
Our thoughts go out to his family, friends and to the Wildcats.
RIP Duncan, we will miss your immensely.
Well another year done !! ☀️💪🏼
Thank you to all the teams for supporting the Diamond series 2021
