Last post today... please say hello to your volunteer event team for today!

Randomly we included Kirsty (celebrating her 100th parkrun) in our photo because, well because we're nice like that 😁

Anyway, don't be shy and do think about lending us a hand one week. It might look like we have lots of volunteers and don't need any more help, but this is *only* because lovely people *do* offer 🥰

As always the best method is to email your name and parkrun ID plus the date(s) you want to help via [email protected].

If you can please always include your ID it will often save us having to look you up and/or having to email you back if we cant find you or there are multiple people with the same name 🙏

👋 Hey parkrunners!

Good news and bad (well just less good really)....

👍 Tomorrow is PARKRUNDAY yeh! (that's the good news)
👎 We are CANCELLED on September 26th (that's the bad news)

Most of the core team are unavailable that week AND it's the start of much-anticipated path upgrade works which would require 2 separate diversion routes.

Rather than try to operate a diversion just for 1 week with a severely depleted team and then switch to a different diversion the very next week.... we've decided to skip the 26th and then just operate the 2nd diversion over the next few weeks.

Hopefully this advanced notice will give you plenty of time to make alternative arrangements. It'll all be worth it as when completed we'll have a super smooth and fast course around the whole lake!

Special thanks to the ranger team at Leybourne Lakes Country Park for being so accommodating to our needs 🥰

This week Co-ED Darran managed to grab photos of (hopefully) all the volunteers while out park walking. Please give it up for your volunteer crew - there were so many we very nearly ran out of hi-viz!

Don't forget we'll always welcome more and on the 26th Sept in particular most of the core team are off to take part in the Westminster Mile, so if you fancy helping out that week (or any week) then just drop us a line via [email protected]

Worth mentioning again that volunteering *is* an equal form of participation and you do get milestone credits... so you're *not* giving up a run; you are gaining a wonderful, heart warming and fun activity that you're brain and blood pressure will thank you for!

Good numbers today and a whopping 63 first time visitors to our lovely park and 13 people doing their first ever parkrun - WELCOME!

Today must have been near perfect conditions for fast times and sure enough there were 51 PBs 👏

As mentioned previously, we're going to be needing extra help with marshalling when the path upgrade works start, so this would be the perfect excuse for anyone sitting on the fence to jump in and have a go!

👋 Hey parkrunners!

What was that wet stuff?? We've asked around and someone said it's what used to be called "rain" - back in the olden days.

Anyhoo... Well done as always to all our finishers and especially those doing their first ever parkrun, hitting a milestone or getting a new PB 👏

⚡️....NEWSFLASH....⚡️

Works to improve several sections of path are INCOMING. These will be done in two "chunks": from Meadow down to Divers corner and then from Halfway round to Tesco corner. These are two particularly hazardous stretches of path and so we're every excited at the prospect of them made smooth and fast!!

During these works we'll have to operate two different alternative "out and back" style routes. This means a) we'll need more marshals and b) the paths will likely be more congested with 2-way traffic. In short we'll need your help to make this successful!

The tmactive rangers are working really hard to help us avoid cancellations and we're very grateful for their help and support!

Start dates and durations are still TBC but some initial works elsewhere in the park could be starting within a week or two. So when you see those in progress you'll know the clock is running.

Have a great bank holiday weekend and if you see more wet stuff, dont panic - it's completely natural!
