It is with deepest regret that I have to share this sad news with you. Trevor Reece has passed away in hospital suffering from pneumonia, heart and lung complications which regrettably he was unable to overcome. Trevor was a true gentleman with a good sense of humour. He was a valued member of our chess club for over the last 9 years - always willing to play and help out with the driving and will be sorely missed.

Hi all Facebook viewers and chess players,
As captain for our Solihull Div 1 Team in the Birmingham & District Chess League, I am honoured and pleased to announce on behalf of Solihull Chess Club that we have won the prestigious Division 1 championship title for the present season of 2021/22. We last won the championship in the 2018/19, and I feel confident that we can sustain our high competitive standard and challenges for the title again for many years to come. Our website presently shows excellent photographs of Solihull members celebrating our success from 2018/19 season.
I would like to publicly congratulate and give my whole hearted thanks to โThe Teamโ from Solihull Chess Club. This includes all our Div 1 players inclusive of our top player GM Keith Arkell, reserves from our Div 2 Team and support from all our other teams and all our club officials. It would be amiss of me not to mention congratulations and thanks to all players, organisers and officials from Warwick University Chess Club who have assisted and contributed tremendously over the last 4-5 years during the special relationship between Warwick University and Solihull Chess Club, setup by Hok Chiu and myself. It has been, and still is, an invaluable partnership for both our clubs, and for the promotion of our wonderful game of chess - long may it continue for many years to come.
I always welcome more top players, and players of all standards to join us at Solihull Chess Club now or later in this year in preparation to play for us in the BDCL/LDCL chess leagues from Sept 2022 onwards. More teams is a winner for everyone. Contact myself any time of day for a chat if interested, or come along to the club on any Wednesday from 7.30pm at Blossomfield Club, Solihull or contact our secretary Penny Wood โ contact no. on our website.
Very kind regards
